The proton structure function F 2 (x, Q 2 ) is measured in inelastic QED Compton scattering using data collected with the H1 detector at HERA. QED Compton events are used to access the kinematic range of very low virtualities of the exchanged photon, Q 2 , down to 0.5 GeV 2 , and Bjorken x up to ∼0.06, a region which has not been covered previously by inclusive measurements at HERA. The results are in agreement with the measurements from fixed target lepton-nucleon scattering experiments.
The g decay of the excited rotating 168 Yb nucleus has been simulated considering the competition between E1 and E2 transitions, using microscopically calculated rotational bands. The simulations were made for two different cases: (i) pure rotating mean field bands and (ii) rotational bands mixed by a residual interaction. Simulated g-g spectra were analyzed in the typical rotational ridge-valley region. The fluctuation analysis method, sensitive to the effective number of g-decay paths, was also applied. An overall agreement between experimental and simulated data is found for the case of mixed rotational bands. [S0031-9007(96)00364-X]
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
