Ultrastructural study, by Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy, of three choroidal melanomas allows us to depict main features and cellular types of melanomas and to discuss our results with precedent studies. One case of balloon-cell tumor shows an unusual (from unknown genesis) substance, intra- or extracellularly located, but always near pigment cells expansions.
The authors have evaluated on a foam phantom the continuous evolution of the estimated attenuation with respect to the distance between the probe and the sample. Results show large changes rapidely occuring because of the diffraction effect. Random phase transducer (RPT) are then introduced for attenuation estimation. RTP can be partially or totally incoherent. New diffraction calibration curves show that no diffraction occurs with the RPT, all the more as they are totally incoherent. As a consequence, the attenuation is very stable as a function of the probesample distance . All these observations will be confirmed through in vitro measurements on human placentae.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
