(1990). Acta Cryst. A46, 467--473. Sheldrick, G. M. (1993 accepted 9 September 1996) Abstract Crystals of the title compound, C24H20P+.C104 --, are composed of Ph4P + cations and CIO4-anions separated by normal van der Waals distances. The P and C1 atoms occupy special positions of 4 ($4) symmetry. In the cation, the P---C distance is 1.833 (4) A and the C--P-C angles are 110.25 (13) and 107.9 (2) °. The perchlorate anion is disordered.
