Y PrefaceThe Federal Emergency Management System (FEMIS) is an emergency management planning and analysis tool. The following documents were developed to support system users. The audience for each is identified.The FEMIS System Administration Guide defines FEMIS hardware and software requirements and gives instructions for installing the FEMIS software package. Audience: system administrators and system managers.This REMIS Data Management Guide provides the information needed to manage the data files and database used to support the administrative, userenvironment, database management, and operational capabilities of the FEMIS. Audience: chiefly database administrators and system administrators but also emergency management planners and analysts who want to know details of the emergency managemenE data. OrganizationThis document is organized into seven sections, which include details on the description, installation, configuration, utilities, and troubleshooting of FEMIS. describes the UNIX-based services, which includes the relational database management system, backup procedures, the Notification Service, the Command Service, and the Meteorology Receiver.discusses the capability of FEMIS to connect to a variety of external data sources, including meteorological data, using the communications server.discusses the meteorological simulator application.discusses the electronic mail service and its components and installation and tips for using the Novel1 Groupwise Client.describes how the PC-based user interface and services provide a variety of functions necessary for managing an emergency, including the Commercial-Off-The-Shelf software, FEMIS system configuration, and PC client workstation troubleshooting.describes the system manager tool available from the FEMIS user interface.
