Since the end of the Cold War, The US and Thailand have seemed headed for a more strained and distant relationship. For this reason, China has become more interested in deepening cooperation. Following the 2006 and 2014 military coups, the US government has decided to cut military aid to Thailand and publicly criticized the military regimes. China has not deviated markedly from its traditional foreign policy approach towards Thailand. Under the leadership of military regimes, the country adopts hedging strategies in order to maintain domestic stability, to promote inclusive economic growth, to maneuver through the changing geopolitical environment around its peripheries, and to keep more support for pro-China and pro-U.S orientation. This article addresses the US- China rivalry from the hedging strategy of Thailand , as opposed to the concept of more traditional balancing and bandwagoning. It examines why and how, despite the tensions of the US- China rivalry, Thailand has pursued a hedging strategy towards China.
İki ülke arasındaki ittifak ilişkisindeki güven eksikliği, Çin'in Kuzey Kore'yi nükleer silahlardan arındırma sürecini tamamlamaya ikna etmesini imkânsız hale getirmiştir. Bu nedenle, Çin'in caydırıcı gücü sonuçsuz kalmıştır.
China's rapid economic growth and integration into the global economies have largely significant economic impacts and political implications for the EU. Since China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the flows of trade have expanded substantially. Building on long-existing relations, the EU has established links with China since the 1970s. Over the past decades, the relationship between China and the EU has thus evolved into comprehensive strategic partnership. Both parties have employed several strategies such as summit diplomacy, bilateral approaches, multilateral cooperation, policy papers to improve ties and overcome growing concerns. Economic interests have remained primary. After an overview of the historical evolution of political relations, this paper considers the three main motives which may drive China to provide economic relations with the EU, such as granting the market economy status, the needs of the foreign direct investments (FDI), growth in the volume of trade. The last part of the paper examines the interests and dilemmas of the China-EU economic relationship using the neoliberal theory of international politics as a framework for analysis. With this last point in mind, this paper attempts to analyse the relationship between interdependence and conflict with case studies.
The aim of this research is to identify the socio-economic determinants of divorce in Turkey and four sub regions in the 2008-2017 period by the panel data analysis. Also, this research examine whether the female employment on divorce differs by sector or not. According to analysis findings, per capita income level, female employment in agriculture sector, female education level and male unemployment level have a positive effect on divorce across the Turkey. These impacts differ between regions classified by socio-economic development. Income level and education level of women are the main determinants of divorce in the regions with high socio-economic development level, whereas female education level and male unemployment level are the main determinants of divorce in low socio-economic development level regions. In addition, the effect of female employment on divorce rate varies between agriculture and non-agricultural sectors. The reason for this difference is that the independence effect is more dominant than the income effect on working woman in the agricultural sector and the independence and income effects are not dominant over each other on working woman in the industry and service sectors.
