The COVID‐19 pandemic caused many institutions to adapt or cancel their events in the Spring of 2020. One organization at the State University of New York, University at Albany took this opportunity to innovatively transform a conference‐style poster session to a virtual format. Overall, the virtual conference was well accepted by participants and guests. This article is a case study of the event and elaborates on the feedback received. We present a model for adapting conferences and poster sessions to virtual formats with recommendations for adaptation.
