Tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Over the years it has cut through human developments to economic development of regions, nations and the world at large. Tourism generates wealth and employment. It's served as a major source of income and foreign exchange earners for countries. The Ikogosi-Arinta Ekiti warm spring tourist centre is a tourist destination; it offers numerous values ranging from historical, environmental monuments and rich cultural heritage of the people. It's a wonder to behold. The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of the Ikogosi cold/warm spring tourist resort on community development, with a view to enhancing the economic development of the host communities. This study adopted a survey research method and used four different sets of questionnaires to collect research data from the household heads, tourists, staff of Ikogosi and Arinta tourism centre and the Ekitistate tourism board. However, analysis of data embraced the usage of stastical package for Social Science (SPSS20), Correlation analysis was used to measure the relationshipof variables.The findings among others revealed that the Ikogosi and Arinta warm spring tourist centre lack adequate network coverage and transportation problem. However, the study compels government to encourage private partnership in tourism industry; and therefore, calls for public enlightenment to be given to the host communities on the usefulness to be hospitable and polite to tourists.
The need for affordable and adequate housing has become a central issue in addressing thechallenges of poverty and growth. It is a requirement for all communities and individuals, and it ranks secondonly to food in terms of their survival. The well-being of the community is greatly affected by the availabilityof adequate housing. It contributes to the overall health and well-being of the society and is regarded as thebest form of historical and physical evidence of civilization. The availability of affordable and adequatehousing is also a major issue that contributes to the overall health and well-being of the society. Over the years,the government has been providing various forms of public housing to its citizens. These include safe, secure,and sanitary housing for low, medium, and high-income households. In order to meet the goals of the UnitedNations, the government has been working toward making all cities, towns, and settlements safe, resilient, andsustainable by 2030. Unfortunately, due to various factors, the government has been unable to achieve thisobjective. To address this issue, the private-public partnership schemes launched by the government have beendesigned to provide affordable and adequate housing. The paper aims to investigate the various factors thataffect the delivery of housing services in Lagos by examining the housing policies and practices related to theprivate-public partnership and housing sector in the city. It was revealed that the finance, land, and affordabilityof housing are some of the factors that influence the effectiveness of the private-public partnership schemes. Itsuggests that the government should pay more attention to the various agencies and institutions that areresponsible for the delivery of housing to ensure that everyone has access to a proper place of residence.
