Bilateral dislocation of the shoulder is rare and still very rare when it arises during the sleep due to an epileptic seizure. We report in this work the case of a young 24-year-old patient not known epileptic before and who never has a convulsive crisis. We discuss the mechanism of this uncommon variety of shoulder dislocation and modalities of treatment.
The authors report eight cases of neglected dislocations of the elbow. The fracture-dislocations were included in our series. All patients benefited from a surgical reduction. In five cases, an internal fixation by K-wires was necessary. All patients benefited from physical therapy after removal of osteosynthesis material. After a mean follow-up of 20 months, we noted 50% of satisfactory functional results according to Mayo Elbow Performance Score. Neglected dislocations of elbow remain a rather frequent entity in developing countries. Its main cause is the negligence of patients and the recourse to traditional treatment. The prognosis of this injury remains reserved.
Fractures of the distal humerus account for 5% of osteoporotic fractures in patients over 60 years. The osteoporotic field, comorbidities, and joint comminutions make it difficult to support. The objective of our work is to show the interest of the total elbow arthroplasty in pathological fractures of the distal humerus. We report a unique case of a pathological fracture of the distal end immediately treated by total elbow arthroplasty in a 82-year-old patient whose biopsy reveals an evocative metastasis of clear cell adenocarcinoma of renal origin. In fractures of the distal humerus disease in the elderly, the absolute necessity of rapid recovery of daily life activities can move towards a total joint arthroplasty or hemiarthroplasty. Total joint replacement is an alternative to the trauma in the elderly elbow. It uses semi-constrained implants allowing stable mounting and early mobilization through self-rehabilitation.
The Hoffa's disease is a rare and little-known cause of anterior knee pain. It was first reported by Albert Hoffa in 1904. It is due to chronic impingement of fat pad Hoffa between the femur and the tibia during knee extension. The formation of the Hoffa's chondroma appears to be the final phase of acute-chronic transformation process of this disease. We present a case of chondroma of Hoffa which received complete resection under arthroscopy. We show in this work the clinical appearance, radiological and pathological chondroma of the Hoffa.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
