Introdução: A raiva é uma doença infectocontagiosa de caráter agudo que pode acometer animais de estimação, como os de produção e os silvestres. É uma zoonose ocasionada pelo vírus do gênero Lyssavirus. Objetivo: Objetivou-se com esse trabalho realizar uma análise qualitativa descritiva de literatura dos casos de raiva em animais domésticos, cães e gatos, no Brasil, durante o mês de janeiro de 2017 a abril de 2022. Material e Métodos: Realizou-se pesquisas em artigos e utilizou-se também sites oficiais para leitura de informações e notícias, selecionando apenas os relatos de casos no Brasil, durante o período descrito anteriormente, em que havia cão ou gato testado positivo para raiva. Foram analisados cinco artigos científicos e quatro notícias e informativos. Resultados: Os resultados obtidos foram 41 casos positivos para raiva no período de janeiro de 2017 a abril de 2022, sendo 25 desses pertencentes aos animais da espécie canina e 16 a espécie felina. A região Centro-oeste apresentou dois casos positivos nesse período de tempo, sendo um caso pertencente ao estado do Mato Grosso com um cão e o outro era um gato do estado de Goiás. Já o Nordeste apresentou 25 casos, sendo que 19 dos casos acometeram os cães e 6 os gatos. A região Sudeste, Norte e Sul totalizaram 14 casos. Conclusão: Apesar da vacina ser um método presente e eficiente na vida dos animais de companhia, cães e gatos, a raiva, doença com uma taxa de mortalidade extremamente alta e de caráter zoonótico, ainda é presente na vida desses animais e de outros, como também na dos seres humanos. Ademais, no período entre 2019 a 2021 obteve-se um aumento nos casos positivos, muitos denominam esse acréscimo como decorrente a ausência de vacinação gratuita disponibilizada pelo governo, o que gerou uma enorme queda na taxa de vacinação contra a raiva. Apesar dessa doença ser extremamente contagiosa, ela pode ser evitada com vacinação e ausência de contanto com animais positivos.
