Investiga-se uma estratégia de ensino que mantém um paralelo com a de Millar, sugerida em 1987, analisando se os estudantes obtem medidas experimentais com melhor acurácia do que aqueles que não ficam submetidos a ela. Parte-se da hipótese de que conhecer previamente o valor da medida a ser obtida em um experimento faz com que os estudantes obtenham medidas com maior acuracia, pois ficam mais atentos e cautelosos com os procedimentos, refazendo-os quando a medida se desvia do valor por eles esperado, caso mais difícil de acontecer se eles desconhecem o valor do que estao medindo. A corroboração desta hipótese e feita por meio de tratamento estatístico (teste t) ao se analisar dois grupos (experimental e controle) de estudantes de nível médio, em situação real de sala de aula, realizando medidas em atividades experimentais de física. Considerações a respeito da consequência dos resultados desta pesquisa em relação ao uso de estratégias didáticas investigativas de inspiração em teste de hipóteses ou de aplicação de uma teoria são também apresentadas.
