Introducción. El movimiento de ortodoncia destinado a cerrar los espacios edéntulos posteriores es una idea sutil, pero a menudo difícil de realizar. Objetivo. Establecer las consideraciones básicas para la mesialización de molares. Metodología. La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Lilacs, Google Academic, Elsevier, Library Online, sin exclusión de idiomas. Las palabras clave utilizadas fueron: mesialización molares, tratamiento, mini implantes. La búsqueda se limitó a artículos publicados desde enero del año 2012 a enero del año 2023, con la inclusión de todos los idiomas. Resultados. Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 15 artículos. Se realizo la revisión de literatura de consideraciones básicas para la mesialización de molares. Conclusiones. La literatura disponible reveló que es posible el cierre de espacios de molares ausentes, sin embargo, el movimiento exige mayor tiempo de tratamiento entre otras consideraciones clínico quirúrgicos.
La recuperación o “liberación” de caninos maxilares incluidos ha tenido grandes inconvenientes para ser resueltos desde la perspectiva de cada área de especialización odontológica; por lo tanto, se han publicado diversas maneras de relaizar la tracción de los mismos, estas frecuentemente son un desafío al momento de la elección de la técnica más adecuada de acuerdo a la tracción planificada. Por lo tanto el objetivo fue conocer los métodos de tracción ortodóncica de caninos maxilares incluidos. La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Lilacs, Springer, Cochrane Library, Google Academic. La búsqueda de la información se realizó desde enero del año 2013 hasta enero del año 2023 sin límite de idioma entre los que destacaron los idiomas inglés, español, turco y portugués. La revisión arrojó un total de 530 artículos, después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión se obtuvieron y revisaron 44 artículos. La literatura disponible reveló que las mejores decisiones y opciones para la recuperación de caninos incluidos en el maxilar deberían partir de un diagnóstico preciso con adecuado plan de tratamiento, en el cual está inmerso un equipo multidisciplinario de especialistas; además, se presentan diversas mecánicas para la tracción en ortodoncia de acuerdo a las necesidades individuales de cada caso.
En ortodoncia uno de los problemas con mayores efectos tanto estéticas como funcionales es la impactación de caninos. El Objetivo de este estudio es analizar el diagnóstico e interpretación de caninos impactados. La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Lilacs, Google Academic, Elsevier, Library Online, sin exclusión de idiomas. Las palabras clave utilizadas fueron: diagnostico, caninos impactados, etiología, prevalencia. La búsqueda se limitó a artículos publicados desde el año 2012 a 2022. Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 35 artículos. Se realizo la revisión de literatura de diagnóstico y etiología de caninos impactados. La literatura disponible reveló que los caninos se encuentran en segundo lugar entre los dientes impactados con mayor frecuencia, el diagnóstico y la intervención temprana es la mejor solución.
Fundamentos: La deficiencia maxilar transversal, se caracteriza por un deficiente crecimiento del maxilar, se encuentra estrechamente asociado con apiñamiento dental, mordida cruzada, maloclusión clase II y clase III y disfunción de la articulación temporomandibular, es así que, la expansión palatina rápida asistida por microtornillos (MARPE) se desarrolló con el propósito de lograr la expansión maxilar sin intervención quirúrgica. Objetivo: Analizar las modificaciones en el maxilar posterior al uso de MARPE en niños de 8 a 12 años. Métodos: La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Springer, Cochrane Library, Google Academic, Proquest, Web of science, Taylor & Francis. La búsqueda de la información se realizó con temporalidad desde enero del año 2012 a enero del año 2023, con la inclusión de todos los idiomas. Resultados: Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 16 artículos. Conclusiones: La literatura disponible demostró que MARPE podría reducir la pérdida del espesor óseo alveolar bucal y del nivel óseo marginal en el área de los primeros premolares que la expansión rápida palatal convencional. Sin embargo, la baja calidad de la evidencia, hacen que estas afirmaciones no sean concluyentes. Por lo que, se alienta a los investigadores a realizar nuevos estudios, de preferencia estudios que utilicen muestras significativas y con una duración de seguimiento más prolongado para identificar cuáles son los efectos a largo plazo y su recidiva.
