La industria avícola es un sector con crecimiento anual de 2% a 4%, por la facilidad económica de la obtención de la proteína animal, por ello es necesario ser más competitivos (reducir los costos o mejorar la calidad). El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar dietas con Tephrosia purpurea (L.) en gallinas ponedoras Isa Brown. Se realizó un tratamiento experimental con porcentaje progresivo de harina de Tephrosia purpurea (L.) en 10 gallinas y un control con alimentación normal (concentrado comercial) a otras 10 gallinas, durante ocho semanas; al finalizar se eligieron al azar 10 huevos de cada grupo de gallinas, para realizar un análisis físico. Para el análisis de la información, los resultados se sometieron a un análisis de la varianza con la prueba de Fisher <0,05, en donde se encontró diferencias significativas (<0,05) entre ambos grupos, pues el peso en el Grupo 1 (G1) (66,16 g) aumentó 2,05% respecto al peso en el Grupo 2 (G2) (64,83 g); el grosor en la cáscara de huevo en G1 (0,69 mm) mejoró un 40,81% respecto a G2 (0,49 mm). Igualmente, la pigmentación en la yema del huevo evidenció una coloración más intensa en G1 respecto a G2, mejorando la aceptación del consumidor. En este sentido, los resultados sugieren que Tephrosia purpurea (L.) podría utilizarse como complemento alimenticio en la alimentación de gallinas ponedoras para mejorar los parámetros de calidad del huevo.
