Abstract This study aimed to describe phenomenon of sequential voicing (rendaku) in summou`s winning technique. This reaserch is a qualitative descriptive study. The data consist of summou`s winning technique in the form of compound word from Japanese Summou Asosiation, by using observation and note taking method. The data analysis, used separating method to separate the elements of compound word, then the data be classified and described based on the pattern of rendaku. The result show that there are two form of compound word that changes their phonem. The pattern are phonem /k/ becomes phonem /g/, phonem /s/ becomes phonem /z/, and phonem /h/ becomes phonem /b/. Analysis of rendaku, can help to knowing the basic form of its element, so can improve the understanding of summou`s winning technique Keywords : sequential voicing, phonem, compound word, summou`s winning technique Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena sequential voicing (rendaku) yang terjadi pada teknik kemenangan olahraga sumo.
