O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o funcionamento discursivo em enunciados que se apoiam nas contribuições de Edgar Morin para a compreensão de estudos sobre Educação Ambiental (EA) que foram realizados no ambiente escolar. O corpus de pesquisa foi constituído por recortes em teses e dissertações sobre EA reunidas pelo Projeto EArte. De forma a analisar tais materialidades, nos apoiamos na Análise de Discurso materialista francesa de Michel Pêcheux e colaboradores. Como resultados, identificamos que os mecanismos utilizados pelos autores variam desde efeitos de pré-construídos, assim como discursos-transversos nos quais os autores mobilizaram uma grande amplitude de temas à partir da teoria da complexidade, demonstrando ser um referencial que realmente dialoga com a EA; bem como carência de estabilidade referencial de algumas expressões
