Public participation is the tool of the government to gather citizens or customers’ information in order to increase performance and respond their needs and expectations. Public participation in decision-making processes enhances citizen’s income, security, and self-esteem. This paper identifies the concepts and levels of public participation in decision-making processes. In addition, this paper presents participation tools used by government to facilitate citizen involvement. Thus, increasing public participation in government decision-making has become a large component for government administration especially in early stage before major decisions are made.
Purpose: This study evaluates the role of transformational leadership in effective strategic implementation. The purposes of this study are; first, to examine the degree of transformational leadership of administrative officials; second, to assess the degree of effective strategic implementation; third, to investigate the impact of transformational leadership on effective strategic implementation. Finally, this study examines the roles of organizational culture as a moderator of the association between transformational leadership and effective strategic implementation. Methodology: This study uses the case study of municipalities in Trang Province in Thailand. This research employs quantitative methods. The questionnaires are collected from administrative officials of municipalities in Trang Province. Descriptive statistics are used to analyse the data. This study uses Pearson correlation analysis to achieve the associations between two variables. In addition, regression analysis is applied as a suitable statistical tool to test the hypotheses. Implication: This study combined the framework of strategic management, leadership, and organizational culture for testing the conceptual model. The study is particularly useful for improving the roles of administrative officials in order to achieve effective strategic in municipalities.
Digital citizenship refers to people who can use technology appropriately. The purposes of this research are: (1) to examine personal factors influencing the digital citizenship of people, (2) to investigate the differences in digital citizenship of people between two municipalities, and (3) to examine the barriers to digital citizenship of people. This study employs a quantitative method using an online questionnaire. The sample size was 438 people in Hat Yai Municipality and Songkhla Municipality, Thailand. The results revealed that people with different personal factors, namely gender, age, occupation, income, and level of education, had different levels of digital citizenship. This study also found that people living in different municipal locations had different digital citizenship. Moreover, the most important issue of ethics in using digital media and social networks was emphasized, followed by adaptation/changing behavior towards technology, and knowledge and understanding of using digital media and social networks. The results led to the development of communication channels to educate the public on proper digital citizenship, and the development of the internet network system to fully support digital citizenship in the future.
The purpose of this study is to explore and compare the community members’ attitudes towards community participation in solid waste management. The participants in this research were 400 people in 3 communities in Khaoroopchang Municipality. The research instrument was a set of 5-point rating scale questionnaires, enquiring about the community members’ attitudes towards the community’s solid waste management. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and LSD pairwise comparison. The results revealed that the community members’ attitudes towards the participatory solid waste management were at a high level. The results also showed that people who had different ages, education, occupations, residences, and family incomes had different attitudes towards waste management. This research outcome serves as a guideline for community leaders in changing the behavior of each household in the community in terms of waste sorting, career enhancement, and increasing income in the community in order to be good role models and local philosophers for sustainable development.
Employees’ performance depends on both internal factors and external factors that stimulate the willingness to work which drives organizational performance. The purposes of this study are to develop and investigate the consistency and conformity of the structural equation model of causal factors affecting the employees’ performance, and to analyze factors that affect employees’ performance in modern trade organizations. Indices were derived from revised literature and related research. This study used the case of 220 employees in a modern trade organization in Songkhla Province, Thailand to collect data. In addition, the data were analyzed by using structural equation modeling. The results demonstrated the structural equation model of causal factors affecting employees’ work performance in modern trade organizations and are consistent with empirical data. The result also indicated that loyalty and motivation had significant direct and indirect influences on employees’ performance in modern trade organizations. Additionally, loyalty is passed on to motivation as an indirect power in employees’ performance. These results carry implications for the ways to improve employees’ performance by increasing factors affecting it and finally, employees' performance will ultimately affect the organizational effectiveness and achieve of overall organizational goals.
