El riesgo ante inundaciones hoy en día es necesario estudiarlo sobre todo cuando se sabe que cada vez es más probable que se produzca una variación de las lluvias y el desborde de los ríos, que se han visto influenciados por eventos naturales como el Fenómeno El Niño y el cambio climático, el objetivo fue evaluar el riesgo de inundación empleando un sistema de información geográfica y modelamiento hidráulico aplicados al río La Leche con fines de prevención a corto plazo. Se desarrolló en el tramo de 18200 metros aguas abajo de la cuenca La Leche, que es la zona más propensa a inundaciones. La metodología fue del tipo aplicada y de diseño descriptivo. Los resultados obtenidos indican que la zona estudiada es muy susceptible a inundaciones, según el análisis de extremos de los caudales máximos y la simulación hidráulica para períodos de retorno de 200 y 500 años, con una probabilidad del 95%. Se concluye que la evaluación de riesgo por inundación es de nivel alto para una velocidad máxima de 4,91 m/s y nivel de agua máximo de 4,96 metros, por lo que se sugieren algunas intervenciones como la rectificación del cauce y obras de defensa ribereñas en ambas márgenes del río La Leche aguas abajo.
Los suelos granulares no cohesivos de la región Lambayeque presentan características físicas y mecánicas, que dificultan los procesos de diseño y construcción de las diversas infraestructuras que se ejecutan sobre ella, es por tal motivo que aplicando bacterias calcificantes se buscó mejorar sus propiedades con el fin de estabilizarlo. Para dicho proceso se utilizó el método inductivo aplicando la experimentación y conocimientos en biotecnología, seleccionando catorce muestras de suelos del tipo SP extraídas dentro de la región Lambayeque y las que fueron sometidas a diversas pruebas en estado natural y aplicando bacterias calcificantes que permitieron evaluar los resultados obtenidos. Los parámetros que garantizan la estabilización del suelo son: disminuir los espacios vacíos, la permeabilidad y el aumento de la cohesión, que se lograron debido a la precipitación de Carbonato de Calcio producto de la acción de las bacterias calcificantes en el medio donde se inocularon aumentando su presencia de 0,32 a 5,44% como valor máximo en las muestras de la provincia de Chiclayo, y la alcalinidad del suelo aumento en un rango de 3,85 a 9,37%. Los valores obtenidos en peso específico relativo aumento de 9,5 a 13,5%, que indican la disminución de los espacios vacíos, de igual forma la permeabilidad manifiesta una disminución de 9,5 a 22,7% y además la cohesión aumento de 0,074 a 0,1703 y de 0,0022 a 0,1632. La adición de bacterias calcificantes mejoran las propiedades físicas y mecánicas asegurando la estabilidad de los suelos granulares no cohesivos en la región Lambayeque.

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo mostrar cómo influye el proceso de acorazamiento en la socavación de pilares de puentes aplicado dicho proceso a un caso real: Puente Reque, pues esta estructura es de vital importancia para el acceso vial con la parte sur de la Región Lambayeque, pues como se recuerda en nuestro país, durante el Meganiño 1982 y 1983, caracterizado por fuertes crecidas fluviales especialmente en la costa norte, resultaron afectados y/o destruidos 55 puente y con la llegada del Meganiño de 1997 y 1998, de similares características, los datos en la infraestructura vial fueron también considerados y hubo 58 puentes destruidos y 28 puentes afectados. Prácticamente la totalidad de las fallas ocurridas en ambos meganiños tuvo su origen en problemas de hidráulica fluvial, pues como indican las estadísticas mundiales los puentes fallan principalmente por problemas de hidráulica fluvial y uno de los principales factores que influyen en este problema es la “Socavación”, entonces a partir de ahí diversos estudios han indicado que cuando se erosiona el fondo del cauce, remueve el material del lecho y del alrededor de los pilares aumentando considerablemente la socavación dependiendo del material que se va depositando, dicho efecto se denomina acorazamiento, finalmente el transporte de sedimentos de los materiales gruesos que cubren a los finos va disminuyendo hasta llegar a una condición estable en función del tiempo.
