A primeira infância é sem dúvida marcada por intensos processos de desenvolvimento, justamente nessa fase as crianças começam a lidar com a aprendizagem. Se a aquisição da linguagem não ocorrer de forma natural e espontânea, é necessário investigar se a criança possui algum transtorno de aprendizagem, como por exemplo a dislexia. Sendo assim, o presente estudo propõe realizar uma revisão sistemática da literatura para demonstrar o estado atual da contribuição acadêmica em torno da dislexia, inclusive sobre o conhecimento de professores. A metodologia consistiu em um levantamento bibliográfico de artigos completos publicados em periódicos nacionais nos últimos dez anos. Observou-se que a literatura dispõe de muitas definições e conceitos sobre a dislexia, os sintomas/sinais são muito bem descritos, os testes de rastreio consistem basicamente em provas de habilidades fonológicas e a abordagem consiste em intervenções educacionais, incluindo instruções diretas quanto às habilidades de reconhecimento de palavras. Observou-se que são inegáveis os benefícios das intervenções pedagógicas voltadas para o desenvolvimento cognitivo como forma de se evitar o fracasso escolar, a repetência e a evasão escolar.
