rTBI is an important contributor to the general population TBI burden. Certain risk factors can help identify individuals at higher risk of these repeated injuries. However, higher quality research that improves on rTBI surveillance methodology is needed.
Differences between preterm and term-born children with cerebral palsy with periventricular white matter injury (leukomalacia) suggest that despite a common radiologic pattern, these are different clinicopathologic entities with perhaps a different gestational timing of acquired injury.
Three-tesla iMRI-based epilepsy surgery may have the potential to improve patient outcomes. However, we conclude that iMRI, in its current state of use at our institute, does not improve outcomes for children undergoing epilepsy surgery. Given that its use appears safe, further research on this technology is warranted, particularly for the most challenging PDCs.
