El presente artículo analiza la cultura política de la Izquierda Independentista Vasca en las décadas de 1990 y 2000. Por medio del estudio de las encrucijadas de los itinerarios militantes de tres mujeres conoceremos mejor los modos de vivir el paradigma del sacrificio como uno de los rasgos fundamentales de esta cultura. También busca identificar críticas, transformaciones y propuestas en el actual escenario político, para así contribuir a la construcción de memorias donde la teoría feminista nos posibilita visibilizar y rescatar otros sujetos políticos, introducir contenidos diferentes a la agenda política, proponer nuevos debates y aportar diversas miradas. Concluye que actualmente se está cuestionando la relación entre lo que se considera privado y público, político y no político, resignificando conceptos, ampliando el sentido rígido de entender lo colectivo, y en general de concebir nuevas formas de dar vida a la política y de vivir lo político.
Este texto es un ejercicio provisional y abierto, que aborda los avances y dificultades del proceso de construcción de memorias sobre la tortura que protagonizan las mujeres que, durante más de medio siglo y en el contexto del conflicto político y armado vasco, han padecido violencia política por parte del Estado español. Partiendo de entrevistas en profundidad y observación de eventos testimoniales protagonizados por mujeres que han sufrido tortura y violencia político-sexual en forma de tortura, este texto da cuenta del significativo proceso que están viviendo estas mujeres, en el actual contexto marcado por el fin de ETA y el auge del feminismo. Los espacios de enunciación permitidos vienen marcados por un escenario donde la tortura se debate entre la impunidad y el reconocimiento, donde el discurso de derechos humanos se expande, pero no reconoce a todos los sujetos, y donde el movimiento feminista en su conjunto no termina de introducir del todo esta cuestión en su agenda política. Aun y todo, sin ningún tipo de organización formal ni hoja de ruta, estas mujeres avanzan en esa memoria que no surge ahora, pero que sí vive un momento lleno de potencialidades y peligros, desde una perspectiva feminista, que es también donde se sitúa este estudio, en ese necesario cruce entre los estudios de memoria, sufrimiento social y feminismo.
