The diffusivity of hydrogen in t h e intermetallic compound Ti,AI has been measured in the temperature range 973-1323 K. The activation energy for diffusion has been found to be nearly twice those for pure Ti and Al. A possible origin of this large activation energy is t h e presence of ordered Al atoms in Ti,AI and the difference in the heat of solution of hydrogen between Ti and Al.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
