Reaktor ini mampu menurunkan nilai BOD hingga 96% dan nilai ammonia sebesar 97%.ABSTRACTWastewater domestic in Surabaya City has been treated in two methods, including septic tank for blackwater and directly discharged into drainage system for greywater. This caused an increasing pollutant loading in source water. Constructed wetland with Iris pseudoacorus, one of the alternative natural treatment technology through biofilter and phytotechnology process, could be applied easily and less costly to other treatment. This research was conducted to know the efficiency of constructed wetland with Iris pseudoacorus in domestic wastewater treatment, and to reveal the effect of aeration and detention time in reducing organic and nitrogen content in domestic wastewater. Experiment has been conducted on a laboratory scale of continue aerated reactor and without aeration as control reactor. Detention time (days) 2 and 3 was setup, then sample was taken for BOD and ammonia measurement. The results indicated that constructed wetland with aeration and detention time 4 days had a higher performance to remove BOD up to 96% and ammonia up to 97% than without aeration and less than 4 days process. Keywords: Domestic Wastewater, Constructed Wetland, Phytotechnology, Iris pseudoacorus, Aeration.Sitasi: Hidayah, E. Implementation microalgae has been considered for enhancing e uent wastewater quality. However, algae can cause environmental issues due to algae released extracellular organic matter, algal organic matter, instead of bacteria-derived organic matter in the biological process. The objectives of this study are to investigate the characteristics of dissolved e uent organic matter as algal-derived organic and bacteria-derived organic during the oxidation ditch process. Experiments were conducted in the oxidation ditch without algae, with Spirulina platensis and Chlorella vulgaris. The results showed dissolved e uent organic matter increased into higher dissolved organic carbon, more aromatic and hydrophobic than that before treatment. Fluorescence spectroscopy identi ed two component, namely aromatic protein-like at excitation/emission 230/345 nm and soluble microbial products-like at 320/345 nm after treatment, instead of fulvic acid-like at 230/420 nm and humic acid-like at 320/420 nm in raw wastewater. Fractionation of dissolved organic uorescence based on average molecular weight cut-offs (MWCOs) has obtained that fractions aromatic protein-like, fulvic acid-like, humic acid-like, and soluble microbial products-like has respectively a high MWCOs 50,000 Da, a high to low MWCOs <1650 Da, medium MWCOs 1650 Da to low MWCOs.Biological oxidation ditch under symbiosis algal-bacteria generated humic acid-like and fulvic acid-like with a higher MWCOs than oxidation without algal. The quality and quantity of dissolved e uent organic matter in oxidation ditch algal reactor has been signi cant affected by algal-bacteria symbiotic.
The aim of this study is to decide the strategy of mitigating the quality of river water of the Surabaya River as raw source for drinking water. The study was carried out during both the rainy (January – February 2021) and dry seasons (September – October 2021). Research sampling uses random sampling in term of observation at four Locations with different activities. The sample obtained was tested for its quality of water indicators, such as temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, organic matter, nitrates, and phosphates). The results showed that indicator of pH, temperature, and nitrates, met class II water qualitystandards. However, indicators of dissolved oxygen, organic matter, and phosphates had not met class II as stated in the Regulation of Government 82/2001. Lightly pollution identified the water quality status of the Surabaya River in the rainy and dry seasons. As a result, efforts to mitigate water quality were required, including regulating water infiltration, monitoring water quality at water sources, conducting afforeLocation programs, reorganizing settlements and industries on watershed banks, and incorporating biological treatment using biofilter technology into the Surabaya River's initial water treatment process.
