The Bulgarian orange-fruited mutant cultivar Oranzheva kapiya is characterized with a high content of the antioxidant β-carotene. To identify the mutation leading to the accumulation of β-carotene and develop a suitable molecular marker for this trait, the genes for geranyl-geranyl pyrophosphate synthase, capsanthin-capsorubin synthase and β-carotene hydroxylase were studied both in the mutant and in the parental cultivar -Pazardzhishka kapiya. Our results suggest that the gene for β-carotene hydroxylase in the cv. Oranzheva kapiya is affected by a mutation, as well as the polymorphism between initial and mutant plants in this locus could be used as a molecular marker in the breeding programmes towards high β-carotene content.
исследования по созданию идентифицированного исходного материала кустарникового перца для горшечной культуры в малообъемном субстрате с выраженным декоративным эффектом. Проведенный анализ наследования признаков архитектоники куста у гибридов F 1 ,F 2 , BP 1 ,BP 2 , P 1 ,P 2 выявил их независимое наследование, однако показал эпистатическое взаимодействие генов Mf и fa, проявляющееся в уменьшении длины междоузлий, высоты растений, количества цветков в узле. Для ускоренного получения линейного материала используется эмбриокультура незрелых зиготических зародышей.Ключевые слова: кустарниковый перец, селекция, наследование, архитектоника куста, эпистаз, эмбриокультура.Summary. Studies were initiated to create pepper´s shrub stock identifi ed source material for pot culture in the low-capacity substrate with an expressed decorative effect. Analysis of the architectonics traits inheritance in F 1 , F 2 , BP 1 , BP 2 , P 1 , P 2 populations were revealed their independent inheritance, however, showed epistatic gene interaction of genes Mf and fa, manifested in the reduction of the length of the internodes, height of plants, and the number of fl owers per node. Immature embryo culture is used for accelerated linear material production.
