541.486:546.185 Complex phosphates MxZrz25_.o.25x(P04) The orthophosphate NaZr2(PO4) 3 is a parent compound for a large family of crystal NZP phases, which may be prepared by ionic substitutions in the Na, Zr, and P positions so that the crystal data of the basic lattice remain unchanged. Compounds with this structure are chemically and thermally stable and radiation-resistant. They are useful as inorganic materials with nearly zero expansion parameters [1][2][3][4][5][6][7], as a basis for a large family of solid electrolytes [8][9][10][11], catalysts and catalyst supports [12, 13], and as prospective materials for tightly binding highly toxic, especially nuclear [14, 15], waste into ecologically safe forms.The first structure investigations of NaZr2(PO4) 3 at room temperature are reported in [8, 16]. Crystal data: a = b = 8.815(1), c = 22.746(7) ~k, V = 1530.5/~3, Z = 6, space group R.3c, dcalc = 3.22 g/cm 3. The refined structural model as well as the atomic coordinates and thermal parameters at room temperature and at 993 K are presented in [17].
