W a s s e r m a n n, Neisser und Bruck (1906) glaubten, mit Extrakten aus der Leber luischer Foeten ihrer Reaktion eine spezifische Grundlage gegeben zu haben. Es erwies sich aber sehr bald, daß sich ebensogut Antigene aus Rinder-oder Menschenherz, die mit Cholesterin versetzt wurden, für die WaR verwenden ließen.
