Poor sleep quality can worsen hypertension, type 2 diabetes and obesity, thereby increasing the incidence of cardiovascular disease, as well as accelerating the progression of end-stage kidney disease and reducing survival rates. In hemodialysis patients, many factors affect the patient’s quality of life start from a psychological, physiological, social, and economic perspective can decreased the patient’s quality of life. To know about the relationship between sleep quality and quality of life in hemodialysis patients, this study uses a literature review method, based on the results of an article published within the last 10 years. From 5 journals that met the criteria, it was found that there was relationship between sleep quality and quality of life. There is a significant relationship between sleep quality and quality of life in hemodialysis patients. Keywords: Hemodialysis, Sleep quality, Quality of life.
Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix. Post-appendectomy patients often experience pain from the surgical wound incisions. Pain will have an impact on daily activities. Therefore, independent nursing action is needed by performing simple and easy pain management; one methods is finger grip relaxation. To measure the effect of finger relaxation techniques on pain reduction in post-appendectomy patients, this study used a literature review method. The data was collected by searching on Google Scholar website with the following keywords: Finger Grip Relaxation Techniques, Pain, and Appendicitis. It was found that in post-appendectomy surgery patients before being given a finger grip relaxation technique, the patients experienced moderate pain, then after being given a finger grip relaxation technique, the pain intensity decreased and effectively. Data were analysed by Paired T-Test with a significant value α=0.005. The results showed the average result before intervention was 4.80 and the average result after intervention was 3.87. The bivariate results obtained p-value 0,000. It shows that there are differences in pain intensity before and after finger grip relaxation techniques are performed in post-appendectomy patients [3]. It can be concluded that finger grip relaxation techniques can be used as an intervention in the hospital or at home to reduce pain in post-appendectomy patients. Keywords: Finger Grip Relaxation Techniques, Pain, Appendicitis.
Aims: ICCU (Intensive Cardiac Care Unit) is a special room provided in a hospital that treats patients with cardiovascular system problems. Sleep disturbance is one of the significant problems that occur in patients during treatment in the intensive cardiac care unit. Patients in the ICCU are at risk of experiencing sleep disturbances due to various procedures and monitor sounds, noise from communication between staff or noise, sleep disturbances related to lighting, complaints of pain and treatment procedures that occur in >50% of intensive care units. This causes the patient's healing process to be hampered. This study aims to find out factors affecting sleep quality of patients treated in ICCU. Methods: This research is a quantitative correlational analytic research approach cross sectional study, conducted at a Dustira Tk II Hospital in July-August 2022, the number of samples was 23 respondents. The instruments used included a questionnaire. Results: There is a relationship between pain and sleep quality with a Pvalue of 0.001. There is a relationship between the environment and sleep quality with a Pvalue of 0.006. There is no relationship between medication and sleep quality with a Pvalue of 0.097. There is no relationship between anxiety and sleep quality with a Pvalue of 0.082. S-regression analysis regarding the factor that most influences the sleep quality of ICCU patients is the factor of pain complaints with a P value of 0.036. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between physical complaints and environmental factors on the sleep quality of patients at the Dustira Hospital ICCU. The factor that most influences the quality of sleep is the factor of pain complaints.
Introduction: It is important for patients with hypertension to know chronic kidney disease (CKD); this will help in addressing and implementing healthy practices to reduce the risk of CKD. This study aims to describe the knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding the CKD in patients with hypertension. Methods: This study used quantitative descriptive method with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in June 2019, with involved 135 hypertension patients at the Intern Medicine Polyclinic room, selected by consecutive sampling technique. Data collection was gained through a questionnaire that contains 3 sub-scales of measurements, namely knowledge scale, attitude scale and practice. Data analysis used frequency distribution. Results: This study showed most respondents had knowledge about CKD 15.08 (range 5-22), it was showed positive attitude 36.50 (range 28-45) and it had healthy practices to prevention of CKD 23.11 (range 16-34). However, half of the respondents (65.2%) had incorrect information about the symptoms of CKD and did not show good practices related to a healthy lifestyle and conducting routine checks. Conclusion: Health workers need to provide better health education to improve the knowledge of patients with hypertension towards chronic kidney disease.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
