objetivou construir e avaliar o desempenho de carneiros hidráulicos. Foram construídos carneiros hidráulicos de dois tamanhos (¾" e 1") empregando conexões de PVC e válvulas de bronze. As condições operacionais dos equipamentos ensaiados foram constituídas por: i) três volumes de câmara de ar (0,5; 1,0 e; 2,0 L) e; ii) dois posicionamentos da válvula de escape (vertical e horizontal). Nos ensaios, para uma carga hidráulica (h) constante de um metro sob o carneiro, foram determinadas: a vazão de alimentação, a pressão de recalque (H) e a vazão de elevação (q). Os valores da relação H/h e q foram empregados para construir curvas características, que apresentaram um decrescimento de q como o aumento da H/h. O volume de câmara de ar não apresentou influência no desempenho dos carneiros hidráulicos. Entretanto, a orientação horizontal da válvula de escape, em relação a vertical, proporcionou um acréscimo 7,1 e 24,2% na vazão média de elevação, respectivamente, para os carneiros hidráulicos de ¾" e 1". O rendimento global médio foi de 13,25 a 13,54% para o carneiro hidráulico de ¾" e de 23,19 a 27,77% para o de 1". Assim, a opção construtiva de carneiro hidráulico de 1", combinado com válvula de escape na horizontal e câmara de ar de 0,5 L, apresentou-se como a melhor alternativa.
