Teaching and Learning (T&L) methods in the present days need to be creative and diverse in order to produce quality graduates. Memorization method will produce students who are unable think critically since they are regimented to memorize facts only. It may cause students easier to forget the contents when there is a disturbance during the memorization process. One of the courses that need attention to encounter this problem is Microeconomics. Based on a preliminary study, it was found that students had problem to master Microeconomics. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify problems faced by students who enrolled in a Microeconomics course at a local Malaysian university. Results of the study found that the course was challenging for students to master since they had low visualization skill. Therefore, it was difficult for the students to visualize complex graphs and interpret data in the graphs.
Augmented Reality technology allows users to interact with virtual objects integrated into the real world and real-time. Augmented Reality technology is considered a potential tool to promote the teaching and learning process. This study aims to identify the trends of publications related to Augmented Reality (AR) in education, bibliometric review of the studies as well as its application on enhancing students’ visualization skills in engineering education field. Thus, this study reviewed trends and bibliometric studies focusing on Augmented Reality (AR) in education for the past five years based on the Web of Science (WOS) database, and provide experimental results on the application of augmented reality technology to enhance visualization skills among engineering students. The result from this study proves that augmented reality shows an upward trends in education, as well as the experimental findings indicates positive results in enhancing visualization skills which is one of the reason why augmented reality is frequently used in education field as teaching and learning tools. This study will also provide researchers and educators with knowledge of the research trends of augmented reality in education. This paper will then highlight the most influential authors and countries in this research area as a reference for future researcher
Recently, there has been a surge of interest for students to use technology while engaging in their learning. Augmented reality is one of the technologies found suitable for use in the educational field, such as in science, mathematics, and engineering. However, it is not yet being explored in the Microeconomics course. Therefore, this study investigated the effectiveness of using augmented reality, namely Augmented Reality Mobile Learning in Microeconomic courses (ARMLAAPPS). This study used a quasi-experimental design, and two groups were involved: the control and experimental groups. They are undergoing teaching and learning sessions using ARMLAAPPS and conventional teaching methods. This study indicates that students in the experimental group showed a significantly higher visualization skills level than those in the control group after teaching and learning. Besides, this study also found that ARMLAAPPS can assist in highlighting student-centered learning, stimulating student interest and curiosity, increasing student cognitive, affective, and psychomotor processes, and increasing student involvement in the information-seeking process. Educators are suggested to use augmented reality in their teaching and learning since it has effectively enhanced students’ visualization skills and promoted a better understanding of knowledge.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
