The objectives of this research were to find out: (1) the needs of accounting students in learning English at one of the vocational high schools in Donggala; and (2) the suitable English course design for vocational high school students. This research used a descriptive qualitative research method by involving twenty-two students majoring in accounting. The research instruments were google form questionnaires and phone interview that each instrument contained open-ended and close-ended questions. The data of this research were analyzed in four stages; namely coding, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions or interpretations. The researchers found that the needs of accounting students who participated in the research in learning English were in accordance with the teaching concepts of English for Specific Purposes. The language skill they needed the most was speaking. The students lacked vocabulary, pronunciation, and self-confidence to speak in English. In line with the students’ lack, the students would like their speaking skill to be developed. Based on the result of the students’ needs analysis, the researchers suggested a set of English course guidelines which consisted of four components. The first was the course rationale that covered target learners, course content, and course objectives. The second component was course materials related to accounting and about daily life. The third was teaching method and learning activities that most of the students preferred discussions and practices. The last component was assessment which consisted of a portfolio, journal, interview, observation, and self/peer assessment. The teacher could use one assessment only or more in one time for assessment based on the learning situation and the students’ needs.
Abstract This research is a type of quantitative descriptive research which aims to analyze the students' problem solving abilities through the test value data given on the material of cubes and blocks at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap. The sampling of students was carried out by a teacher consisting of two students. This study uses indicators and guide scores according to their patterns. The data collection technique used was to provide test questions to students for analysis. The results of the analysis in this study were students were only able to complete 2 indicators and ignored the other 2 indicators, where indicators 1 and 4 did not apply to all the questions, while for indicators 2 and 3 students made them but there were still many mistakes.
Eel fish (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard) on Silver eel phase contains unsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6, EPA, DHA and vitamin A which is known to overcome various functions of body tissues. The high content of fatty acids will facilitate oxidation, making it difficult for storage and causing rancidity, thus creating a new innovation such as being formulated into cream. This study aims to formulate the silver eel (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard.) Oil extracts in the form of cream dosage preparations and evaluates the cream dosage using physical test parameters to maintain the quality of the cream produced. This study used laboratory experimental methods and the cream formulations were made in 4 formulas, they are F0, F1, F2 and F3 with the respective concentrations of stearic acid emulsifier 6%, 8%, 10% and triethanolamine 2%, 2%, and 3.5. %, and F0 as negative controls. The result obtained test showed that the F3 positive control cream preparation met the organoleptic requirements, the result of homogeneity test was homogeneous and there were mo coarse particles, the dispersion of the cream was 6.87 cm (5-7 cm), adhesion of the cream was 4.21 seconds (>4 seconds), cream pH was 6.25 (4.5-6.5). The F3 formula gave a significant value to the characteristics of the cream
This study concerned with the teachers strategies in learning speaking English. This research is focused on how the teacher overcomes the students weaknesses in learning speaking English when implementing Time Token Arends method. By using a descriptive qualitative research within a teacher of MA Al-Bairuny as a subject of its research found that: (1) the student had difficulty in inhibition such as: difficulty in starting to speak because of being worried of making mistakes, difficulty in answering the question from the teacher, and they felt nervous and shy to speak in front of the class. (1) The teacher used Look in the Face strategy to overcome the difficulties; (2) the teacher used Communication strategies to overcome the students difficulties in nothing to say, such as: students had no idea to speak, student got difficulty to express what he wanted to speak, and student had no bravery to express their thought; (3) the teacher used Interdependence strategies to overcome the students difficulties in un-event participant; (4) the teacher used Responsibility strategies to overcome students difficulties in mother tongue used, such as: students felt easier for communication each other using Java Language, so they ignored the teachers instruction for speaking English; (5) then, after the learning process, teacher made a schedule for this group to evaluate their teamwork process in order to give them motivation and evaluation. Thus, the students improvement on their speaking skill has been the aim of the research.
