, using Randomized Block Design with two treatment factors and three replications for each treatment. The first factor was rice varieties (V): V1 = IR 64; V2 = Inpara 5. The second factor was fertilizer (N): N0: without submergence, all N fertilizer was given during planting; N1: all N fertilizer dose was given during planting; and N2: 1/2 dose of N fertilizer was given during planting; the rest was given at 42 days after planting. The submergence was during 7-14 days after planting; N3 = the entire dose of N fertilizer that was given during planting, N4 = 1/2 the dose of N fertilizer that was given during planting, and the rest was given at 42 days after planting. The submergence was during 7-14 and 28-35 days after planting. The results showed that the management of nitrogen fertilizer application had effect on rice growth and production which experienced dirty water submergence stress; the application of 1/2 dose of N fertilizer given during planting had the best effect on rice growth and production; the longer the submergence period for rice variety, the higher the effect on rice growth and production.
This study aims to determine the effect of regulating the provision of nitrogen fertilizer on several rice varieties on the growth and yield of rice in ratoon system at the Tidal swampland. A split plot design was employed in this experiment. The main plot was nitrogen fertilizer application (N) consisting of N1, N2, N3, and N4. The subplot is rice varieties (V) consisting of Inpari 30 (V1), Inpara 3 (V2), Inpari 33 (V3), Inpari 43 (V4) and Hipa 5 Ceva (V5). The results showed that ½ dose nitrogen fertilization given at planting + ½ dose at primordia had a good effect on the growth and yield of the main crop, whereas 1/3 dose nitrogen fertilization given at planting + 1/3 dose at primordia + 1/3 dose at harvest tends to have a good effect on ratoon yield. Variety Hipa 5 Ceva produced highest yield of unhusked rice (i.e. 4.9 tons ha-1 for the main crop and 2.71 tons ha-1 for ratoon) at (N3): 135 kg N ha-1 fertilizer, when ½ dose was given at planting + ½ dose at primordia. The variety Hipa 5 Ceva with various nitrogen fertilization strategies provided the highest total grain yield in the ratoon system at tidal swampland.
Upland rice production at South Sumatra is still low compared to national average production level due to low soil fertility. Therefore, effort to increase soil fertility level is needed such as through application of Trichocompost and NPK fertilizers at dry land area. This research objective was to determine the application effect of Trichocompost produced from rice straw and NPK fertilizers on the growth and yield of upland rice crop of henic strain at dry land area. The methods used in this research was a 2 by 3 Factorial in Completely Randomized Design with two treatment factors and three replications for each treatment. Trichocompost fertilizer treatments (T) were consisted of: T0 (without Trichocompost: 0 ton/ha; T1: 10 ton/ha Trichocompost; T2: 20 ton/ha Trichocompost and T3: 30 ton/ha Trichocompost, whereas NPK fertilizer treatments (P) were consisted of: P1: 200 kg NPK/ha; P2: 300 kg NPK/ha and P3: 400 kg NPK/ha. All data from this research was analyzed using Analysis of Variance to determine the given treatment effect by using SPSS 17.0 software. The results showed that application of Trichocompost produced from rice straw and NPK fertilizers had effect on the growth and yield of upland rice of henic strain at dry land area. Application of Trichocompost fertilizer produced from rice straw at dose of 30 ton/ha and NPK fertilizer at dose of 400 kg/ha tend to produce higher rice yield with magnitude of 4.6 kg/plot than that of other treatments.
