The writing of this paper aims to describe: (1) local content collection services, (2) constraints in procuring local content collections; and (3) efforts in procuring local content collections in the Archives Service and West Sumatra Province Library. The method of writing this paper is to use a qualitative descriptive method which is done by observation, interviews and data collection directly to the source, the Office of Archives and the Library of West Sumatra Province. Based on the results of interviews and observations conducted at the Archives Service and West Sumatra Province Library are as follows: First, the service collection of "local content" content at the Archives Service and West Sumatra Province Library through the procurement of local content collection, local content collection service system and the use of collections local content by users in the Archives Service and Library of West Sumatra Province. Second, the obstacles faced are: (1) limited number of local content collections, (2) limited access to local content collections, (3) lack of government and other related parties' attention to cultural functions, (4) lack of human resources as skilled librarians. Third, the efforts that have been made by the Office of Archives and Library of West Sumatra Province, namely conducting education, outreach, law enforcement and infrastructure facilities for local content collection works in an effort to preserve regional culture.Keyword: local content collection; cultural preservation; public library
The formulation of competence standard and basic competence for Indonesian language and literature subject is based on four aspects of language skills. But when viewed from the point of the communicative approach in language learning. generally those competencies do not directly address the language components which must be taught again and teacher often do not specify clearly these aspects when developing indicators of basic integrate the three components of learning, namely :1. mastery of language knowledge which also includes a significant mastery of linguistic rules; 2. Four aspects of language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing); 3. A positive attitude towards meaningful Indonesian language and literature which enable student to use language appropriately. Communicative approach in learning the language is emphasized also that language learning is not learning about the language, but learning the language. However, learning the language without learning the rules of language is useless. This research aimed to: (a) present a description of Tarikat Pengajian Tubuh script, (b) present the transliteration form from Arabic-Malay into Latin script of Tarikat Pengajian Tubuh text, (c) present the translation from Malay-Minang into Indonesian language of Tarikat Pengajian Tubuh script. This research is a philology research. The object of his research is the text of the Tarikat Pengajian Tubuh. The method of this research is descriptive method and method of philology research which is adjusted with research stage. At the data collection stage used field study method and literature study method. The results of this research were (1) the complete description of the script, (2) the transcription ofTarikat Pengajian Tubuhtext which can be read and understood by the people in order to know the important of knowing the extent of human body, the creation of a body and its life, and get to know who God is, (3) Tarikat Pengajian Tubuh text had adapted into correct Indonesian Spelling (EBI). Some of Malay’s vocabularies and Minangkabau language’s vocabularies found inTarikat Pengajian Tubuh script were maintained to preserve the purity of the old vocabulary.Keywords: transliteration, translation, text, philology
This study aims to describe the female image in Kaba Si Gadih Ranti by Syamsuddin Sutan Radjo Endah, in terms of three aspects: (1) the image of women as individuals, (2) the image of women as family members and (3) the image of women as community members. An image is a person's personal image that can be seen from the actions, speeches, associations, dresses and patterns of thinking that develop in every problem faced. While kaba is one of the classic works of Minangkabau society in the form of prose which contains the reality of Minangkabau life that is delivered orally, and serves as entertainment, as advice, as moral and cultural education. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. Based on the analysis of its contents, which describes the facts found in the object of research based on content. Analyzing data, namely (1) describing data concerning the image of women in Kaba Si Gadih Ranti by Syamsuddin Sutan Radjo Endah; (2) analyzing data based on the classification found; (3) interpret data based on classifications found; (4) draw conclusions and write reports from the results of the description carried out. The results of this study conclude that the image of women in Kaba Si Gadih Ranti is: (1) the image of women as individuals who include beauty, gentle, humble, (2) the image of women as family members which includes the role of wife, mother and children , family members, and (3) the image of women as members of the community that include environmental concerns or others and relationships to the environment or others.Keywords: Kaba, Image of women, Kaba Si Gadih Ranti
The writing of this paper seeks to describe the use of information resources by users at the Padang City Library and Archives Service. Data collected using descriptive research methods with research objects of various sources of information in the library. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews with librarians and librarians in the Padang City Library and Archives Office library through literature studies in accordance with the problem under study. Based on the discussion of the data it can be concluded that the utilization of information sources by the library users in the Padan City Library and Archives Service is as follows: (1) Information sources that can be used by visitors in the Library of the Padang City Library and Archives Service, such as public collections numbered from 000 public works to 900 history and geography. Then there is also a source of information that is a collection of references consisting of dictionaries, encyclopedias, laws, altas, handbooks. And there is also a collection of reservoirs which are numbered from a collection of 000 public works to a collection of 900 history and geography. (2) the utilization of information resources in the library can be seen from the user's needs, user motives, user interests. (3) the opinion of the user towards the information sources in the library can be seen from the completeness of information sources in the library such as: information sources as opportunities for career achievement and achievement, updating information sources, completeness of information sources, as a means of decision making, information sources as entertainment. The information retrieval facility can be seen from the use of collections, the condition of book fiqs, the arrangement of books in the library, the search tools facility, the enhanced facilities.Keywords: utilization, information, users
