The Importanat of the principal's leadership in implementing a character education program attracts the author to conduct research and this article discusses the results of a literature review conducted by the author. There are a number of articles on the review of principals' leadership and character educatiob especially in the world context that can be found. The purpose of thus review is to find out the principal's leadership in realizing character education in a world context. Based on the results of the literature reviews from various countries in the world, the authors find the scope of the article being reviewed is still very limited and it is very difficult to get literature that combines th two variables. The results of the literature review about principal's leadership shows that the principal's leadership in carrying out his role as a leader has an impact on teacher performance and student personality. Literature review of charcter education shows that the principal has a big role in realizing students personality. Thus, the authors are interested in following up related to the principal's leadership in realizing character education.
The aims of this research are as follows: first, to know the students' need for the teaching material for the writing process; second, to develop the students' book for writing with project-based learning. This research and development are based on the Borg and Gall model development. The subjects of this research are Grade IX students at the Junior High School of Muhammadiyah Pringsewu. The results of this research are as follows: first, the steps of developing a student's book for writing using PjBL at ninth grade JHS of Muhammadiyah Pringsewu research and information are collecting, the planning of the product, and development of students' book. Second, the results of Expert Judgment, English teachers, and student responses showed that overall, students' book obtained an average score of 3.5 with "good" categorized and was declared "feasible" to be used in the writing process. Third, the student book is effective in supporting students' autonomous learning. This research implies that students and teachers can use this book to support the teaching and learning process, especially in teaching writing skills.
Several ICT tools are chosen as media in reading and writing courses, such as socrative for practicing and testing vocabulary, google form for practicing and evaluating reading ability, and writeabout for practicing students' writing skills based on given topics. The study analyze classroom practices of a reading and writing course in hybrid setting which integrated Task-Based Learning (TBL) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). It is a case study with quantitative approach. This project was done in 6 classes of reading and writing course consisted of 159 students in total. The data was gathered through classroom observation, pre-, and post-test scores analysis, and questionnaire analysis about students' feedback. The pre-and post-test scores were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, paired sample t-test, and changing level analysis.The findings indicated that teachers integrated TBL and various ICT tools to accomplish the course description and objectives. The result of those three data analyses described significant improvement in students' learning outcomes. The course received positive responses from the students with a 4.02 out of 5 (good level). The integration of TBL and ICT in a reading and writing course is considerable in enhancing students' achievement and enjoyment in hybrid setting. This study provided benefit from insight into the knowledge and practice for reading and writing lecturers to integrate TBL and ICT in their instruction particularly in hybrid context.
The purpose of this study is to reveal what kinds the students’ reading strategies. The Participant in this research were the students of third semester of English Education Department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu lampung who took Reading 2. There were 38 students who involved in this research. Since this research used qualitative research design that involved case study, the researcher only took 5 students as the representative of group created by researcher in order to get rich and deep information. The data collecting technique used in this research were think-aloud protocol, reflective journal that uploaded through wordpress and interview guide for reading strategies. In analyzing the data, the researcher carried out some activities, namely describing, classifying, and connecting. The research finding obviously describe that the students used three main strategies in reading namely, Cognitive Reading Strategy, Metacognitive Reading Strategy and Compensation Reading Strategy.
The research was conducted to pinpoint the students’ reading strategies when they apply cognitive academic language learning approach (CALLA) instructional reading strategies in reading analytical exposition text. The research used qualitative approach which involved the case study method. The participants involved in this research were the 11th Class MIA3 students at SMAN 2 Pringsewu, Lampung. In collecting the data the teacher used think-aloud protocol, observation and questionnaire. The result of this study show that in applying CALLA instructional reading strategy, the students used the entire of three primary of reading strategies suggested in CALLA such as; meta-cognitive strategy, cognitive strategy and social - affective strategy in reading analytical exposition text. The researcher suggested to the teacher to apply the instructional reading strategy in teaching reading. Finally, the researcher suggested the students to know many kinds of reading strategies that could be applied in comprehending the analytical exposition text.Key words: reading strategy, analytical exposition, CALLA instructional reading strategy
To determine factors that cause employees of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu have good commitment is very important, as its influence to the development of this campus. There are many factors that influence work commitment, yet in this study, the researchers focused on interpersonal communication, work motivation, and the employee's characters. The research questions formulated in this study are: What factors influence the work commitment of the employee of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu? Among those factors, which factor has more influence on the employees work commitment? And how the dominant factor influences the employees work? A descriptive qualitative research used in this study. The interest population in this study was all the employees of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung across various units and divisions since this was the employees under study. This study population comprised a total of 66 from all of the units or division, namely consist of 26 staffs and 40 the lecturers as staff. The sampling technique used in this study was stratified random sampling with 40 samples. The data collection instrument used was the questionnaire developed by the researchers, especially for this study. The research finding shows that interpersonal communication, work motivation, and the employees' character influence the work commitment of the employees of STKIP MPL. From those factors, work motivation gives more influence; meanwhile character is the dominant factors on the employees' work commitment.
This research aim is to know the students' response in using the platform Google Classroom for an online class. This research used the qualitative method and took students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Pringsewu as a sample of research. In-depth interviews, questionnaires, and observations were used as data collecting techniques. The result is the students felt confused because the situation is different from the classroom. The student’s opinion of the platform Google Classroom is a good platform but they need to have a good internet connection to access it and some students have problem with it. They also mentioned that this platform is effective for teaching as long as the teacher can maximize the function of Google classroom.
