The purpose of this research is to know the meaning of death for children and adolescents. The study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The participants were eight children and adolescents at the age of 9-15 years, who were left by their father or mother. Data were collected from the interview. The result of this research showed that all participants had different reactions in facing the death of one of their parents. The loss resulted in deep sadness, feeling the loss of prominent figures, and even a lack of love of intact family.
Peer attachment has a big influence on children's social competence; thus, it needs to be improved, especially their attachment to the surrounding environment. To achieve social competencies as expected, it is important to develop social abilities in children. The role of peers is a supporting factor for children in terms of the development of social abilities. Stickiness greatly influences success in developing social competence. The purpose of this journal analysis is to review the effect of peer attachment on children's emotional competence. The study was conducted on children aged 7-18 years. The data analysis uses linear regression. The analysis shows that peer attachment can affect a child's social competence. The higher the secure attachment, the higher the child's social competence in the future. Conversely, the lower the attachment to safety, the lower the social competence of children in the future.
Adolescents need the skills to express, understand and regulate emotions based on personality to face mood disorders or anxiety and internalization problems, the risk of maladaptive behavior and involvement in aggressive behavior, these skills are called emotional competence. Emotional competence is influenced by self-compassion to make individuals adapt more quickly, can develop sensitivity to suffering and understand how to treat themselves, so that individuals can respond to the pressure that comes with proper identification and understanding of emotions, then regulate and express emotions as a form of emotional competence. The purpose of this study is to prove that the relationship between self compassion and emotional competence can be mediated by social support. This study was conducted on 222 adolescents from the age range of 12-18 years who were determined from several schools. This research uses a correlational quantitative approach which is measured using Self Compassion scales, Social Provision Scale and Personal emotional competence. Data were analyzed using modiation analysis regression. The findings of this study are that there is a mediating effect of social support on the relationship of self-compassion with emotional competence, which means that social support can be a mediator between the relationship of selfcompassion and emotional competence.
