A new type of nano-adsorbent zinc-silver nanoparticles ornamented by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Zn-Ag MWCNT) was efficiently synthesized by double arc discharge using a newly designed rotating cylinder electrode. Zn-Ag MWCNT was characterized by different instrumental methods to get information about the sample shape, size, and crystallinity. Without irradiation, Zn-Ag MWCNT indicated significant potential for elimination against methylene blue (MB) which is dissolved in deionized water. When the adsorbent concentration was 0.1 g/L at normal 8 pH, the Zn-Ag MWCNTs were efficient in removing 97% of the MB from 40 mg/L that was dissolved in water for 10 min. The dye removal activity of (Zn-Ag) decorated MWCNTs was attributed to the influence of silver and zinc nanoparticles on the MWCNTs. Finally, this approach was both cost-effective and efficient.
The interaction of thermal radiation and variable diffusivity through a vertical cone has been explored. The Soret and Dufour effects are considered. The main interest is focused on the investigation of properties of both wall heat flux alongside the mass flux through the porous medium. The modeled governing equations are simplified by employing the similarity transformations. The final governing controlled equations are resolved numerically. The behavior of flow field, dimensionless temperature and concentration for the sundry physical flow variables are elaborately analyzed via graphs. We have introduced that the novelty for our work lies in the dependence of variable heat flux on the thermal radiation, whereas the mass flux basically relies on the concentration. Comparison of the present results with the available literature reveals a high performance of the shooting technique for heat and mass transfer rates prediction.
A shooting method has been introduced for determining the numerical solution of the ordinary differential equations which describe the Newtonian magnetohydrodynamic laminar fluid flow due to an unsteady stretching sheet together with the presence of thermal radiation and variable heat flux. The variable viscosity and variable conductivity are taken into consideration. Absence of magnetic field in some studies restricts the development of the energy-efficient heat transfer mechanism as is desired in numerous applications. The present study encompasses parameters such as unsteadiness parameter, porous parameter, viscosity parameter, magnetic number, radiation parameter, and conductivity parameter. It has been consummated that the proposed model is superior to other existing models for the industrial fluid.
A mathematical model is elaborated for the laminar flow of an Eyring-Powell fluid over a stretching sheet. The considered non-Newtonian fluid has Prandtl number larger than one. The effects of variable fluid properties and heat generation/absorption are also discussed. The balance equations for fluid flow are reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations through a similarity transformation and solved numerically using a Chebyshev spectral scheme. The effect of various parameters on the rate of heat transfer in the thermal boundary regime is investigated, i.e., thermal conductivity, the heat generation/absorption ratio and the mixed convection parameter. Good agreement appears to exist between theoretical predictions and the existing published results.
