<p>Debido al impacto de la resiliencia en el desarrollo personal y social de los jóvenes, es importante concentrar esfuerzos en construir o adaptar instrumentos capaces de medir y evaluar la resiliencia con validez y confiabilidad. Sin embargo actualmente no existe un instrumento adecuado en español adaptado y validado a la población mexicana para evaluar la resiliencia en los adolescentes, lo que hace necesaria la realización de este estudio con el objetivo de validar la Escala de Resiliencia para adolescentes (READ) con una muestra de adolescentes mexicanos. En este estudio se realizó la validación del READ en una muestra de 840 adolescentes que viven en la Zona Metropolitana de Guadalajara (México). Se realiza análisis factoriales exploratorios y confirmatorios, así como la validez convergente y divergente de la escala. Se encuentran características similares a otras validaciones del instrumento, diferenciándose en la generación de un nuevo factor que es relativo a la orientación a las metas probablemente derivado de las diferencias culturales con la población en la que se desarrolló la escala originalmente. Se concluye que es una escala con propiedades adecuadas para aplicarse en el contexto mexicano. Se discuten las implicaciones.</p>
El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar si existen diferentes niveles de cortisol en trabajadores universitarios en función de su posición en la jerarquía institucional. Con base en estudios previos, que encontraron tanto en primates como en humanos que los individuos subordinados tienen más cortisol que los individuos dominantes en sociedades estables y en situación de reposo, se buscó replicar dichos estudios en el contexto de una universidad. Se trabajó con 144 empleados, 89 hombres y 55 mujeres, que pertenecían a personal dirigente, mandos medios y personal operativo. Se tomaron 2 muestras salivales por la tarde con un intervalo de 30 min y se promediaron. Los resultados mostraron que los mandos medios tienen mayores niveles de cortisol que los dirigentes, pero estos a su vez tienen más cortisol que el personal operativo. Se discute respecto a cómo las interacciones sociales institucionales y la dimensión de poder de las mismas regulan los niveles de estrés de los individuos que trabajan en este contexto. Se mencionan algunas de las implicaciones metodológicas de este tipo de evaluaciones, así como sus implicaciones prácticas
Introducción. La inteligencia emocional se ha relacionado con diversas variables, como el género y el rendimiento académico. En el ámbito de la capacidad intelectual, la literatura muestra controversia, sin que exista un resultado unánime sobre la relación que existe entre estas variables En el presente estudio se analiza el efecto modulador que tiene el rendimiento académico, en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios recién ingresados, comparando por grupos, uno con inteligencia promedio y otro con inteligencia superior, y el género.Método. La muestra estuvo constituida por 129 estudiantes que ingresaron al centro universitario de ciencias de la salud en el curso escolar 2011-2012, de los cuales 64 presentaban inteligencia superior y 65 promedio. Para medir la inteligencia emocional se utilizó el Mayer, Salovey and Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), el test de Matrices Progresivas Escala Avanzada para la medida de la inteligencia y como indicador de rendimiento académico, el promedio de calificaciones.Resultados. Los resultados muestran que el rendimiento juega un papel diferencial en algunas de las ramas apresadas por el instrumento. Igualmente, aparecen diferencias entre los grupos en Facilitación emocional, Inteligencia Emocional Estratégica y en Comprensión Emocional, siendo en todos los casos mayor la puntuación de las mujeres y de los más inteligentes.Discusión. Los resultados señalan relación entre inteligencia emocional y rendimiento, si bien difieren, en función del indicador de rendimiento que se tome. Además, se comprueba una relación entre inteligencia emocional, género y capacidad intelectual, apoyando los resultados parcialmente la hipótesis de que las mujeres y las personas con mayor capacidad intelectual presentan más inteligencia emocional.
