Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a special type of wireless ad hoc network that requires highly scalable routing strategies to establishing reliable end-to-end communication. Because of the high dynamic of VANETs, the mobility of vehicle nodes increases the control traffic overhead. Accordingly, establishing reliable end-to-end communication paths depends entirely on the routing mechanism and the type of nodes mobility information. In this paper, we propose a new improvement to the mechanism of the Optimized Link State Routing Protocol(OLSR) protocol, named Cluster-based Adept Cooperative Algorithm (CACA), where each vehicle estimate a reliable low-overhead path using the cluster-based QoS algorithm. The CACA algorithm is introduced to improve the ability of the MPR scheme for maintaining long-lived routes. Moreover, the network scalability is enhanced by adaptively selecting most sustainable paths based on a signal strength beacon and the mobility degree of a node, which reduces significantly minimizes the size of control messages overhead as well the routing tables recalculation process. Simulation experiments using the network simulator are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our solution. The results show that the proposed algorithm can improve network performance effectively relative to other algorithms. Routing in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET) is a bit complicated because of the nature of the high dynamic mobility. The efficiency of routing protocol is influenced by a number of factors such as network density, bandwidth constraints, traffic load, and mobility patterns resulting in frequency changes in network topology. Therefore, Quality of Service (QoS) is strongly needed to enhance the capability of the routing protocol and improve the overall network performance. In this paper, we introduce a statistical framework model to address the problem of optimizing routing configuration parameters in Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication. Our framework solution is based on the utilization of the network resources to further reflect the current state of the network and to balance the trade-off between frequent changes in network topology and the QoS requirements. It consists of three stages: simulation network stage used to execute different urban scenarios, the function stage used as a competitive approach to aggregate the weighted cost of the factors in a single value, and optimization stage used to evaluate the communication cost and to obtain the optimal configuration based on the competitive cost. The simulation results show significant performance improvement in terms of the Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Normalized Routing Load (NRL), Packet loss (PL), and End-to-End Delay (E2ED).
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) face several challenges such as architectural design and network protocol design issues. The capacity of WMNs is very limited, such as the result in an available single channel bandwidth system compared to a multi-channel system. Two problems affect the capacity of mesh networks; i.e. load balancing and interference. To support the mesh network infrastructure, it is necessary to balance the traffic load and reduce the interference. One important direction for improving the capacity of WMNs is to use multiple radio interfaces and multiple channels simultaneously. The proposed load balancing routing algorithm method provides the load balance for multi-radio mesh networks by using a good routing metric, which captures the differences in transmission rates, packet loss ratio, traffic load and intra/inter flow interferences. The simulation results of this study, which used the network simulation NS-2, showed the capacity improvement that helps distributing the traffic load for efficient resource utilization.
