Objetivo: determinar cuales son los tipos de intervenciones más utilizadas en la rehabilitación funcional del esguince de tobillo en todos sus grados en deportistas.
Método: Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática en 5 bases de datos (Google Academic, Science Direct, SCielo, Sportdiscus, Dialnet y Redalyc) cuya fecha de publicación estuviera entre el 01 de enero del 2015 y el 30 de septiembre del 2019. Después de analizar 235 estudios fue preciso considerar su utilidad y relevancia para la inclusión en la revisión. 16 estudios cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y la evaluación de calidad metodológica.
Resultados: Según lo obtenido en esta revisión, los diferentes estudios incluidos comparan y sustentan la efectividad de diversos métodos funcionales en el tratamiento del esguince e inestabilidad de tobillo. Se destaca que el trabajo de rehabilitación funcional esta principalmente fundamentado con protocolos de equilibrio, utilización de dispositivos y superficies inestables, propiocepción, fortalecimiento mediante contraresistencias y combinación de vendajes.
Conclusión: Las intervenciones más usadas en la rehabilitación funcional del esguince de tobillo son el equilibrio, el uso de dispositivos de desestabilización, y la propiocepción, De igual manera se concluye que la rehabilitación funcional y sobretodo temprana, es superior al tratamiento convencional o pasivo.
