In this paper, a flexible bandstop frequency selective surface (FSS) array fabricated on jeans substrate using silver-coated conductive yarn with a computerized embroidery machine is presented for X-band. The S parameters of the fabricated design are measured through the free space method. The measured S-parameters showed significant stopband characteristics between 8 GHz-11.5 GHz for -30o to 30o degrees wide incident angles. Moreover, the transmission, reflection, absorption, and shielding effectiveness (SE) of the FSS array are also computed using measured S parameters. The prototype provides shielding effectiveness of more than 30 dB in X-band and has dominant absorption behavior for some frequencies within the band.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
