Alternanthera sessilis is a yearly or perpetual prostate weed, found all through the more smoking piece of India, climbing to a height of 1200 m. The plant has been scientifically demonstrated to comprise of substance constituents like α-and β-spinasterols, lupeal disconnected from roots. The aim of the study was to assess the awareness of medicinal applications of Alternanthera sessilis among dental students. A cross-sectional study was done with a self-administered questionnaire with 10 questions circulated among 100 dental students. The questionnaire assessed the awareness about Alternanthera sessilis therapy in medical applications, their wound healing properties, anti glycemic applications, memory enhancement applications, anti-ulcer, diahorreal and anti-inflammatory activity. The responses were recorded and analysed. 91% of the respondents were not aware of medicinal applications of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 85% were not aware of the wound healing properties of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 87% were not aware of the anti glycaemic properties of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 85% were not aware of memory enhancement properties of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 89% were not aware of the anti-ulcer properties of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 83% were not aware of ant diahorreal of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. 89% were not aware of the anti-inflammatory properties of Alternanthera sessilis therapy. The awareness about the use of Alternanthera sessilis therapy in medical applications is low among dental students. Increased awareness programs and sensitization and continuing dental education programs along with greater importance to the curricular modifications can further enhance knowledge and awareness about Alternanthera sessilis therapy.
Nootropics herb constitutes of compounds that enhance cognitive performance by increasing mental functions memory, creativity, motivation, and attention, eventually causing individuals to be many alerts and focused. These nootropic herbs tend to enhance brain performances. To assess the awareness on nootropic herbs among dental students. A cross-sectional study was done with a self-administered questionnaire with 10 questions circulated among 100 dental students. The questionnaire assessed the awareness on pharmacological properties, traditional uses, medicinal uses and memory-enhancing function of the nootropic herbs from ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. The responses were recorded and analysed. 17% were aware of nootropic herbs.5% were aware of their pharmacological properties.3% were aware of traditional uses. 3 % aware of medicinal uses. 12%were aware of memory-enhancing function. The awareness of nootropic herbs usage in clinical practice among dental students was found to be low in this study. Our findings emphasize the importance of incorporating several educational and training programs to dental students to sensitize them to look for alternative and herbal medicines in the treatment of diseases.

The purpose of this survey was to assess awareness of medical use of vinca alkaloids among dental undergraduate students. A cross-section study was performed with a self-directed survey questionnaire containing 10 queries distributed among 100 dental students. The questionnaire assessed the awareness about vinca alkaloids, their medicinal uses, anticancer activity, mechanism of action and side effects. The responses were recorded and analysed.94% of the respondents were not aware of medical uses of vinca alkaloids.95% were not aware of anticancer activity of vinca alkaloids.97 % were not aware of the mechanisms of action of vinca alkaloids. Again 97% were not aware of side effects of the vinca alkaloids. This study concluded the awareness about the medical use of vinca alkaloids among dental students was poor. Majority of them are not aware of the anticancer activity of vinca alkaloids.
Intrathecal administration includes the immediate infusion of the medication in Cerebro Spinal Fluid(CSF) internal to the intrathecal space of the spinal column. The intrathecal course permits direct medication organization to the CSF by evading the blood-cerebrum hindrance. It permits conveyance of small medication dosages, and the event of adverse effects are decreased compared with systemic courses of medication administration. This survey was performed for assessing the awareness about intrathecal drug administration among dental students. A cross-sectional study was done with a self-administered questionnaire with ten questions circulated among 100 dental students. The questionnaire assessed the awareness about intrathecal drug delivery in medical applications, their medicinal uses, drugs administered, mechanism of action and side effects. The responses were recorded and analysed.17% of the respondents were aware of medical uses of intrathecal drug delivery, 13% were aware of the drugs used in intrathecal drug delivery .10 % were aware of the mechanism of action of intrathecal drug delivery .7% were aware of side effects of intrathecal drug delivery. The awareness about intrathecal drug administration among dental students is not adequate. Increased awareness programs and continuing dental education programs in intrathecal drug delivery should be initiated to improve the awareness levels.
