O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar os fatores econômicos, sociais e ambientais produzidos pelo “agronegócio do dendê (Elaeis guianensis Jacq.)”, a partir da integração da agricultura familiar à atividade, avaliando seus efeitos sobre a dinâmica do desenvolvimento local no Baixo Tocantins. As informações foram coletadas em pesquisa de campo com os sujeitos sociais vinculados à cadeia. Os resultados revelaram que a governança da cadeia, a sustentabilidade social, a sustentabilidade ambiental, a mudança climática e a qualificação técnica são os fatores que repercutem negativamente sobre a organização do espaço econômico, social e ambiental das famílias agricultoras. Os fatores latentes identificados permitiram construir o Índice de Sustentabilidade do Desenvolvimento Local (ISDL) para avaliar o grau de influência da atividade na configuração da qualidade de vida das pessoas. O ISDL evidenciou a incapacidade do dendê de tornar-se a alternativa socioeconômica e ambiental capaz de gerar emprego, renda e melhoria na qualidade de vida das populações locais.
O artigo analisa o papel do abastecimento na dinâmica sócioeconômica da Amazônia no período colonial, através da descrição das relações sociais construídas entre índios e missionários nesse período. A análise apresenta a complementaridade entre o abastecimento e o extrativismo destacando as formas específicas que estas atividades assumiram na região. O artigo apresenta a domesticidade, a reciprocidade e a redistribuição como elementos chave na reprodução dos costumes indígenas no espaço dos aldeamentos. Por outro lado, demonstra também o papel que a demanda do mercado mundial pelas drogas do sertão impunha a esses grupos causando uma abrupta dizimação das populações indígenas que foram as responsáveis pela manutenção da vida na Amazônia Colonial.
Este artigo aborda a política de integração regional em curso na América Latina, ao longo dos anos 2000, com base nas premissas e ações da Iniciativa de Integração Regional Sul Americana (IIRSA) vista como estratégia de desenvolvimento adotada pelas elites políticas regionais e como instrumento da política exterior brasileira.Com foco nos projetos empreendidos no eixo localizado na Pan-Amazôniaanalisa a estratégia de integração vis-à-vis à regulação ambiental, destacando o papel que a virada à esquerda, nos países da Pan-Amazônia, promoveu sobre a regulação ambiental, ao adotar um modelo de integração que promove a diminuição do estoque de recursos naturais,estratégicos para políticas de desenvolvimento sustentável. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritivo-analítica, baseada em dados secundários e conteúdos de documentos oficiais disponíveis nas instituições envolvidas. A análise empreendida associa a tipologia de Estado Logístico(Cervo2003) e a teoria da variedade do capitalismo (Hall andSoskice2001; Schneider, 2008) para compreender os desdobramentos do capitalismo na região a partir da ascensão das “novas esquerdas” ao poder, quando a agenda ambiental assume papel secundário no contexto da política de integração regional, contradizendo o conteúdo dos programas de governo e das agendas políticas que haviam colocado a questão ambiental como elemento central.
