Метою дослідження є визначення специфічних проявів Я-концепції, рівня алекситимії для розуміння особливостей психоемоційного розвитку дітей у період адаптації до прийомних родин. Дослідження базується на порівнянні психодіагностичних даних дітей у період адаптації до прийомних родин та контрольної групи дітей, які мешкають із біологічними батьками. Особливості проявів Я-концепції дитини визначено на основі концептуальних положень Р. Бернса із застосуванням методики «Шкала дитячої Я-концепції Пірса–Харріса». Ризики алекситимії визначено на основі застосування Торонтської алекситимічної шкали TAS-26. Для обробки емпіричних даних використано засоби MC Excel (t-критерій Стьюдента, кореляційний аналіз r Пірсона). Встановлено, що в період адаптації до прийомних родин діти відрізняються особливими проявами Я-концепції, а саме мають сумніви щодо власної привабливості, демонструють переважно високі показники тривожності та меншою мірою схильні почуватися щасливими. Водночас прояви алекситимії у дітей з прийомних родин та в дітей контрольної групи не досягають значущих відмінностей. Не зафіксовано також взаємозв’язки рівня алекситимії з проявами Я-концепції у дітей з прийомних родин. Однак серед дітей з прийомних родин на відміну від тих, які мешкають із біологічними батьками, вища частка досліджуваних входить до групи ризику. Доведено потребу в особливій увазі до психоемоційної сфери розвитку дитини в період адаптації до прийомної родини. Результати дослідження практично значущі для фахівців, які реалізують супровід прийомних родин, прийомних батьків та можуть бути використані для формування програми взаємодії з прийомними родинами в період адаптації. Перспективами подальших досліджень є розширення досліджуваних підгруп, включення до вибірки дітей на різних етапах проживання в прийомній родині.
