The spectrum of neutral phosphorus has been studied photographically at Lund with a pulsed high-frequency electrodelessdischarge in the regions 11Ofh2700 A and 4000-11 500 A. The Fourier transform spectrograph at Laboratoire Aim6 Cotton, Orsay, has been used for recording the region 10 00040 000 A with a microwave tube as a light-source. In all, 1800 P I transitions have been measured and classified.A total of 282 levels, about 180 of which are new, have been established. The levels belong to the configurations 4s-9s, 3 p d p , 3d-9d, 4f-9f, and 6g in the 3 ~* 3 p ~( ~f l n I system, 4s, 5s, 4p, 3d of the ('D)nZ system and to ('S)4s. Of the configuration 3s3p4 the terms 4P and 2D are known while 2P and *S, predicted to fall above the Fist ionization limit, are still missing. The effects of the perturbations between (3flnd, sp4 and ('D)3d have been studied by parametric calculations of the composite configuration sp4 + 3d t 4d + 5d.
By using a hollow-cathode discharge as a light source variations in the relative intensities of the three lines of the transition 4p-3d in K I at 11 690 Å, 11 769 Å and 11 772 Å have been investigated and explained as an effect of self-absorption. Ten new lines and two previously observed lines in the extraphotographic infrared region have been measured. Improved photographic measurements of 4p-3d and 4p-10s have also been made, and part of the term system has been recalculated.
ABSTRACT.Purpose: To study patients treated with panretinal photocoagulation regarding contrast sensitivity and visual recovery time after exposure to glare.
New observations in the P II spectrum have been made in the wavelength region 500-12 000 Å. The spectrum was excited in two different ways, using a high-frequency lamp and a sliding spark in vacuum. The term system now includes 159 levels and about 900 identified lines, which means a doubling of the number of levels and identified transitions. The energy of the lowest limit, 3s2 3p 2P, is derived from ng-series, which are all new. A linear Ritz formula gives the value 160 010.6 cm-1 for the 2P3/2 component of the limit, and the ground term splitting 559.14 cm-1 in P III then gives 159 451.5 cm-1 for the 2P1/2 limit level.
The spectrum of neutral phosphorus has been studied in the infrared region 1-4pm with the Fourier Transform Spectrometer at Laboratoire Aim6 Cotton, Orsay, using a microwaveexcited discharge tube as a light source. Altogether 538 transitions between P I levels have been measured and classified, 130 of which were resolved into hfs doublets. The results made it possible to confiim many new levels, established by transitions in the photographic region below 11 500 A, and give adequate configuration assignments to the terms of the 3s3p4 and nd configurations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
