Objectives: To investigate the role of individualized homoeopathic medicines in treatment of the Musclo Skeletal Disorders (MSS) of the elderly. Materials and Methods: An Observational cohort study was done by the secondary data analysis of 278 patients (age group of 60-65 years) visiting the Homoeopathic hospital from a period of 10 years (2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010) to observe the subjective relief with homoeopathic medicines in the Musclo Skeletal System Disorders (MSS). Result: In the study after using homoeopathic medicines, 7.32% of patients reported 25% relief, 35% of patients had 50% relief, 17% patients were better by 75%, 14% patients were free of pain and ease in mobility, while 16% patients reported no relief. Homoeopathic medicines like Kali Carb (27.3%), Silicea (21.2%), and Calcarea Flour (13.7%) were the most indicated remedies in the elderly patients with MSS complaints and centesimal scale (30C -38% of patients & 200C -59% of the patients) was the most common potency scale used. Conclusion: Homoeopathy is effective in offering subjective sense of relief in elderly patients from their MSS complaints.
In over 200 years of its existence, homoeopathy has positioned itself as a powerful alternative system of medicine. A significant proportion of population worldwide chooses homoeopathy as a solution for their health issues. [1] Globally, homoeopaths successfully treat cases (both acute and chronic) every day. Every practicing homoeopath has witnessed the power of homoeopathy in providing patients with gentle, yet effective relief from their ailments. However, despite these wonderful results, it is unfortunate that only some of these cases are published in our journals. [2] A cross-section survey carried out in 2019 reported that a massive 93% of homoeopathic practitioners felt that reading homoeopathic journals were a vital means to keep themselves and homoeopathy active and agile; however, only 17% expressed their desire to contribute scientific evidence-based articles to homoeopathic journals. [3] It appears that we homoeopaths are more comfortable in treating and reading, rather than writing and reporting the clinical work that we do.This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-Share Alike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as the author is credited and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.
