Öz: Bu araştırmada, öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimlerinin belirlenmesi ve yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimlerinin çeşitli değişkenlere göre karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, tarama modelinde nicel bir araştırmadır. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılında, Dumlupınar Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören toplam 1125; tabakalı örnekleme tekniği ile belirlenen örneklemini ise 286 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Diker-Coşkun ve Demirel (2010) tarafından geliştirilen "Yaşam Boyu Öğrenme Eğilimleri Ölçeği (YBÖEÖ)" kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimlerini belirlemek amacıyla betimsel istatistikler hesaplanmıştır. İkili karşılaştırmalarda t-testi, üçten daha fazla boyutu olan karşılaştırmada ise tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin normalliğinin sağlanmadığı durumlarda ise üçlü karşılaştırmalarda Kruskall Wallis H Testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda; öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimlerinin düşük olduğu, cinsiyete göre farklılaşmadığı; Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği programlarında öğrenim gören öğretmen adaylarının ortalamalarının Sınıf Öğretmenliğindekilerden daha yüksek olduğu; akademik başarı ortalaması 2.00 ile 2.99 arasında olan öğretmen adaylarının, 3.00 ile 4.00 arasında olan öğretmen adaylarından daha yüksek olduğu; birinci sınıf öğretmen adaylarının diğer sınıflara göre daha düşük olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Bu araştırmada, öğretmen adaylarının bilişötesi öğrenme stratejileri ile akademik özyeterlik inançları arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca araştırmada, bilişötesi öğrenme stratejileri ve akademik özyeterlik inançlarının "cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, akademik başarı ve öğrenim görülen üniversite" değişkenlerine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı incelenmiştir. Tarama modelindeki araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2010-2011 eğitim-öğretim yılı Güz yarıyılında Ankara Üniversitesi, Anadolu Üniversitesi ve Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören toplam 794 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verilerinin toplanmasında "Bilişötesi Öğrenme Stratejileri Ölçeği" ve "Akademik Özyeterlik Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde, Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Katsayısı, t testi ve ANOVA ve Kruskall Wallis H testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, öğretmen adaylarının bilişötesi öğrenme stratejileri ile akademik özyeterlik inançları arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğunu; bilişötesi öğrenme stratejilerinin cinsiyete akademik başarıya ve öğrenim görülen üniversiteye göre farklılaştığını; akademik özyeterlik inançlarının ise sınıf düzeyine, akademik başarıya ve öğrenim görülen üniversiteye göre farklılaştığını ortaya koymaktadır.Anahtar Sözcükler: Bilişötesi (üst biliş) öğrenme stratejileri; Akademik özyeterlik inancı; Özyeterlik inancı.

ABSTRACT:The purpose of the present study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the preservice teachers' educational beliefs and their tendency to think critically. Moreover, the study also looks at whether the critical thinking tendency varies depending on the variables such as gender, the classroom attended, department, the state of book reading habit, and mother and father's education level. The population of this research employing a survey model consists of 908 pre-service teachers of all the departments of the Education Faculty of Ankara University. The data collection instruments of the study are "California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory" and "Educational Beliefs Scale". Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient, ttest, and ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data. The findings of the study revealed that there were significant relations between the sub-dimensions of the Educational Beliefs Scale and the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory. When it is considered that educational beliefs are formed based on educational philosophy, the findings are believed to provide evidence for the theory that there is a strong correlation between philosophy and (critical) thinking. Methods:The study was designed with the survey model. The research population consists of 908 preservice teachers attending all the departments of Ankara University Faculty of Educational Science. In the collection of the data, "California Critical Thinking Tendency Scale" and "Education Beliefs Scale" were used. Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient, t test, and ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data.Results: In the current study, it was found that there was a positive, significant and medium level correlation between the pre-service teachers' critical thinking tendencies and Progressivism and Existentialism sub-dimensions of Education beliefs; a positive, significant and low level correlation between their critical thinking tendencies and Perennialism and Re-constructivism sub-dimensions and a negative, significant and medium level correlation between their critical thinking tendencies and Essentialism sub-dimension. Also the findings obtained in the present study for the limited number of variables investigated in relation to critical thinking tendency and educational beliefs revealed some important differences. Problem Statement: One of the main aims of constructivism is to improve critical thinking skills/tendencies via experiences. In this sense, it is believed that the more the constructivist-learning environment is improved, the more the appropriateness of supporting critical thinking is improved. However, no study has yet statistically tested this belief. Generally, the relationship between the teacher educators' qualities and the quality of teacher education has not been discussed extensively in the literature. At the same time, various studies can be found in the eastern literature examining the characteristics of faculty members at the education faculties. The effect of teacher educators over teacher candidates has not been explored, and in this sense, there is limited number of studies examining faculty members at education faculties in Turkey. Mostly employing quantitative research designs, these studies have focused on faculty members in terms of various characteristics However, which qualities that faculty members should have as a whole have not been studied. However, faculty members, as well as teachers who are a matter of debate in terms of the qualities they are supposed to have should be examined in research studies. In this context, this study aims to identify the qualities that an ideal teacher educator should have from the perspective of education faculty students as future teachers. The current research is a qualitative study in phenomenology design. The participants of the study are third and fourth year 214 pre-service teachers from the departments of Science and Technology Teaching, Pre-School Teacher Education, Classroom Teacher Education, Social Studies Teaching and Turkish Language Teaching. Criterion sampling was used for participant selection. The data gathering tool consisted of an open-ended question that would reveal the qualities that an ideal teacher educator should have based on teacher candidates' views. Junior and senior teacher candidates' views were asked and the data were analyzed according to content analysis approach. As a result, the qualities that an ideal teacher educator should have been gathered under five main themes including 'professional roles and responsibilities, professional values, personal characteristics, professional ethic principles and social responsibilities'.
