Cet article présente les résultats d’une action-recherche menée auprès de onze structures d’Île-de-France apparentées au réseau d’écoute, d’appui et d’accompagnement des parents ( reaap) . Après avoir restitué de fortes lignes de tensions institutionnelles au sein de ces réseaux, nous cherchons à construire des repères théorico-cliniques pour témoigner des spécificités contemporaines de l’expérience de la parentalité. Il nous est apparu que les espaces de rencontres tels que les reaap proposent aux parents une groupalité à la fois désirée et redoutée, tant elle confronte au risque de devoir se mesurer à des représentations idéalisées de la parentalité, déjà présente chez le sujet. Les fonctions éducatives, jadis assurées par l’institution familiale, sont aujourd’hui dévolues à l’individu seul ; en témoigne l’évolution sémantique de la notion de famille à celle de parentalité. L’isolement semble être devenu une condition paradigmatique de l’être parent, qui s’étend aux professionnels et même aux structures.
