Antecedentes: el cáncer infantil es considerado un evento poco frecuente; sin embargo, es una de las principales causas de mortalidad en menores de 18 años a nivel mundial. El objetivo del estudio es presentar el comportamiento epidemiológico de la notificación al sistema de vigilancia en salud pública nacional (Sivigila) del cáncer en menores de 18 años en 2019. Métodos: estudio descriptivo retrospectivo de la notificación de casos al Sivigila en el país durante 2019. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva en variables de persona, tiempo y lugar; se calcularon los indicadores para el evento. Resultados: se notificaron 1 790 casos confirmados demostrando un aumento con respecto a los años anteriores; los tumores más frecuentes fueron leucemias. La tasa de incidencia de notificación para todos los tumores fue de 12,5 casos por cada 100 000 habitantes y la incidencia de notificación de leucemias en menores de 15 años fue de 5,9 casos por cada 100 000 habitantes. El 55,9 % de los casos se reportaron en el sexo masculino y la población indígena aportó el 1,4 % de los casos. Conclusiones: el aumento de la notificación para el 2019 comparado con los años anteriores muestra que el sistema de vigilancia se ha robustecido. La incidencia de leucemias notificadas es comparable con la reportada a nivel mundial; sin embargo, es mayor que la reportada en países con mayores recursos económicos.
Introducción La fabricación, almacenamiento, transporte, comercialización, manipulación y uso inadecuado de la pólvora son prácticas que pueden ocasionar lesiones como quemaduras, amputaciones, e incluso la muerte. La incidencia de lesiones por pólvora en Colombia aumenta en los meses de diciembre y enero en relación con las fiestas de navidad y fin de año. Objetivo: divulgar los resultados de la vigilancia intensificada de lesiones por pólvora pirotécnica realizada en Colombia del primero de diciembre de 2017 al 13 de enero de 2018. Metodología Informe descriptivo de los resultados de la vigilancia intensificada de lesiones por pólvora realizada del primero de diciembre de 2017 al 13 de enero de 2018. Población de estudio: 781 casos de lesiones por pólvora pirotécnica notificados al Sivigila. Plan de análisis: análisis de tendencia, cálculo de frecuencias y proporción de incidencia (denominadores proyecciones de población DANE 2017). casos de lesiones por pólvora, una reducción de 11 % comparado con el periodo 2016-2017. Por grupo de edad la disminución fue de 22,3 % en <18 años, y de 2,4 % en >18 años. La incidencia general del evento en el país fue de 1,6 casos /100.000 habitantes. Las lesiones que se presentaron con mayor frecuencia fueron: quemaduras (92,1 %) y laceraciones (63,9 %), se presentó un aumento de 34,8% en las amputaciones, con respecto a lo observado en el periodo anterior. Conclusiones Durante el periodo de vigilancia intensificada de lesiones por pólvora 2017-2018, se observó la reducción más importante en el número de lesionados de los últimos cinco años, dada principalmente por la disminución de los lesionados en el grupo de menores de edad. Es importante continuar fortaleciendo la información, educación, y comunicación respecto a medidas preventivas, así como el, control de la producción, venta y manipulación de pólvora pirotécnica en el territorio nacional, ya que estas acciones han permitido la reducción en el número de l lesionados por pólvora pirotécnica en el país.
Introducción: las enfermedades huérfanas corresponden a condiciones de salud crónicamente debilitantes de muy baja frecuencia, en Colombia la fuente oficial de información de enfermedades huérfanas es el Registro Nacional de Pacientes con Enfermedades Huérfanas administrado por el Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social. En este documento se pretende describir el comportamiento de la notificación de enfermedades huérfanas al Sivigila en Colombia durante el 2019. Materiales y métodos: informe descriptivo retrospectivo de los resultados de la vigilancia rutinaria de enfermedades huérfanas – raras en Colombia durante 2019, los datos fueron recolectados por las Instituciones Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud y las Empresas Administradoras de Planes de Beneficios en el nivel local (municipios y distritos) y notificados al Instituto Nacional de Salud a través del Sistema Nacional de Vigilancia en Salud Pública – Sivigila. El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante estadística descriptiva en términos de lugar y tiempo, se incluyó la variable nombre de la enfermedad para establecer diferencias en la distribución de las enfermedades notificadas con mayor frecuencia. Resultados: durante 2019 se notificaron a Sivigila 17 743 casos de enfermedades huérfanas, las entidades territoriales que notificaron el mayor número de casos fueron Bogotá, Antioquia y Cali, las enfermedades notificadas con mayor frecuencia fueron: esclerosis múltiple, déficit congénito del factor VIII, enfermedad de Von Willebrand, síndrome de Guillain-Barre y drepanocitosis. Conclusión: el aumento en la notificación de enfermedades huérfanas en Colombia puede estar relacionado con el fortalecimiento del Sivigila y con la expedición de normatividad nacional que establece la notificación como requisito para el recobro de tecnologías en salud no financiadas con recursos de la UPC.
