O uso de coagulantes ambientalmente corretos apresentam uma alternativa viável na separação água/óleo. A polpa da semente do polímero natural conhecido como Moringa oleifera Lam atua como agente clarificante de águas devido à presença de uma proteína catiônica que desestabiliza as partículas contidas na água. Este trabalho propõe estudar o tratamento de água produzida, obtida na extração de petróleo, utilizando o coagulante extraído das sementes moringa em meio salino e em meio aquoso. Os resultados mostraram eficiência de remoção de óleo de 96% utilizando 0,5mL/L do coagulante extraído em meio salino e uma eficiência de 76% utilizando 2,5 mL do coagulante extraído em meio aquoso. Isto indica que o extrato da moringa pode ser uma excelente alternativa para o tratamento da água produzida na extração do petróleo.
