He confesses that the mythological interest has stirred within him late in life, and calls his Joseph-novel ' this strange novelistic enterprise '. With a feeling almost of bewilderment he sees his interest move away from the field of bourgeois individualism to that of a more typical, more generically human world. KerCnyi is less surprised by this turn ; he sees analogous tendencies in writers like D. 13.
