No proporcionan calorías o energía, sólo el dulzor; por lo tanto, no elevan el azúcar en la sangre, condición que los hace ideales para las personas que presentan alguna enfermedad como diabetes, sobrepeso y obesidad. Los edulcorantes no calóricos se pueden conseguir en forma comercial en sobres, para agregar a las bebidas caseras o en los productos que tienen la leyenda “Contiene edulcorantes”. Es importante que aprendamos a consumirlos adecuadamente sin que afecte nuestra salud.
