This research is about the analysis of da'wah language. Da'wah is an activity to invite others to believe and obey Allah SWT for Muslims. With the development of social media, da'wah is not only carried out in mosques or prayer rooms, but can be done through various social media, and one of them is Instagram. Ustadz Felix Siauw is one of the Ustadz who uses Instagram social media in preaching. The purpose of this study is to determine the lingual characteristics of Ustadz Felix Siauw's da'wah language seen from its superstructure, macrostructure, and microstructure. This study uses the agih method with the analytical technique of Van Dijk. The results of this study indicate that Ustadz Felix Siauw's Instagram post from January-December 2019 has a superstructure in the form of a title as the opening text. In its macrostructure, there is an intention to invite Indonesian Muslims to know more about Islam and put God first. Microstructure by analyzing based on semantics, syntax, stylistics, and rhetoric, and based on its microstructure, Ustadz Felix's preaching discourse from January-December has a lingual characteristic of rhetorical language style in its delivery.
This study aims to discover the increase in students' ability to write essays in English. It is a class action research that administered the EGRA technique in the learning process. This study involved two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class as the research sample. The qualitative descriptive method was used in analyzing the data. The data analyzed are presented in graphs and tables and then described qualitatively. Several theories are used in this study, such as error analysis, writing descriptive text, and EGRA techniques. The pre-test results showed the highest grammatical error score of control class results was 5.1, while the lowest score of students' grammatical errors was 2.8. After getting learning actions with conventional methods, there was a decrease in grammatical errors, the highest score was 3.4, while the lowest was 1.8. Meanwhile, the pre-test result of the experiment class showed the highest error score was 6.6, and the lowest score was 1.2. After the treatment administered with the EGRA technique, there is a decrease in grammatical errors, the highest score is 3.3, and the lowest score is 1.6. With the application of the EGRA technique in classroom learning, the student's grammatical ability increases, and students are more active and enjoyable in the learning process.
This study aims to see the politeness of Indonesian in a printed daily newspaper published in Bali, namely the daily Tribun Bali which presents a page of a column called "Smart Traveler" that discusses tourism objects in Bali. In this study, two points were researched, namely the form of politeness and the form of Indonesian politeness based on the principle of politeness (Leech, 1993). Data obtained naturally by reading the daily Tribun Bali, especially the tourism column "Smart Traveler". Then the data is coded according to the function of the Indonesian language, especially in the field of pragmatics concerning the principle of politeness, and transcribed on the data card. The data then were analyzed using two aspects, namely, first, the data were analyzed to determine linguistic elements such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics in a predetermined time. Second, the data were analyzed and presented descriptively, then the results obtained were viewed from a theoretical perspective to find out why that was all that happened. In analyzing the data, the distributional method is used, which is working within the scope of the language itself without connecting things outside it.
The current development of technology has been instantly changing the whole society with the easy access for searching information through the internet. Using media support is a consideration to increase activities of learning and adapting the development of this era. The English learning desire creativity for teaching the students as their target goal. This research aims to analyze the meaning of the terms related to science agricultural technology by implementing Internet Based-Learning for students in the Department of Food Technology, including their translation. It was conducted with mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative). by giving guidance to first-year semester on how they could use the WebCorp media to search articles. Then, students instructed to find the translation and understanding of the meaning in each of the terms. This search engine is a machine that compiles Bing or big data capacity and collected as corpus. The texts can be found in various types and sources on the internet. The discussion of problems in the study covers description of understanding the meaning search for terms related to agricultural technology, evaluating parameter of ability to search meaning through internet based-learning by using WebCorp media and strategies implementation to learn English, mainly meaning related to agricultural technology. It showed that there were 47 terms equivalence based on their English terms meaning and translation of Indonesian related to agricultural technology, meanwhile, 7 were found inequivalence for their meanings and text chosen. So, 87% of their results relevant to the agricultural technology but 13% were not connected with the specification of terms and meaning. The students understood how to use the media of searching and gave experience to them.
