Sepiolite loaded with different cobalt oxide contents has been prepared by the precipitation method followed by calcination at 410ºC. The synthesized Co-loaded samples were characterized by physical methods using XRD, SEM, BET, and H2-TPR. The obtained solids have a large specific area and good distribution of cobalt oxide nanoparticles on sepiolite carrier. The catalysts were tested for the oxidative removal of rhodamine B solution and found that 1.0 – 3.0 wt.% cobalt ion/sepiolite samples exhibited the highest decoloration efficiency of rhodamine B (88-90%) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide at room temperature after the treatment of 30 mg/L of RhB solution in 210 minutes.
Cr2O3/sepiolite samples with different loadings have been prepared through the precipitation method and characterized by several physical methods such as XRD, TEM, BET, and TGA... The as-prepared materials have large surface area, high distribution of Cr2O3 nanoxides on the nanofibrous sepiolite. The catalysts have been tested in the oxidation of benzyl alcohol with t-BuOOH. Chromium oxides were found to be active sites for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to aldehyde. The catalytic activity varied with reaction time and temperature. The appropriate temperature is about 60-70oC with conversion of 40-60% and benzaldehyde selectivity of 90%.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
